A bunch of Nibbler things

Actually just two Nibbler things
Well, first off,

1) When Fry counts the rings on Nibbler's teeth it says that he is 5 years old. But in a commentary it says that he is just 1000 years old, waiting for Fry in the future... I dont know

2) Leela called Nibbler 'Nibbler'. So why is his whole race called Niblonians, why do they ahve nibblestations etc....

1) each ring could mean 200 years, who knows
2) They said that they were just putting it in words Leela can understand

The age thing presumes that Nibbler is anything like the common tree, which he is not.
