I shall make my point using this little symbol dealie:
The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings > The Cryonic Woman
Hey, look, the Pacman's eating the first one!

You're sounding less like a Futurama Fan at this second, and that one, and that one, not so much on this one, even more on this one...

I've seen the episode, thank you. The ties aren't there. A few mentions of details from the first episode don't make for a good series end. There's also the fact that that episode is the 2nd lowest rated episode of the series. Rated at 59%. A lot of people would have been pissed if that episode had been the last. Now, onto the mauling: Sic him Ani! ------------------ The last time i tried to kill myself was about an hour ago. I jumped off this really tall building. But i ended up doing a triple backflip and landing on my feet. No one saw it of course, except for two little kittens and one kitten turned to the other and said "See? That's how you do that."

Since when is nerd-baiting considered a thrill? Frankly, I think Dan is off in his analysis. What would've made it a good series finale? First, it would've had to have been a better episode, and that includes a total lack of Paulie Shore. Next, it should have been more about leaving the year 3000-or-so and less about Michelle's social disorientation therein. Third, Fry would not have chosen to leave the life he had in New New York, regardless of what his ball-and-chain said. Finally, Paulie Shore would not be the guest star. In fact, nobody whose name even sounded too much like "Paulie Shore" would guest star. I think Cohen is equally off with his assertation that Cryonic would have been better placed anywhere in the first season. While Fry's attachment to the future might have been less cemented in his first year there (or then), which could've explained his willingness to leave it, he was still getting used to his new surroundings and for Leela to say he was fitting in well would've been erroneous or at least premature.

I thought the "Why of Fry" referenced "SP3000" quite a bit as well as "Jurassic Bark".

The Cryonic Woman just doesn't fit in the season 4 universe. By then, the characters were more or less fully-developed, whereas, in season 2, things were a lot different. For example, Fry wasn't anywhere near as likable a character, in my opinion. Really, the only time I genuinely liked him in season 2 was in X-Mas Story. (Which, for the record, had some of the best characterization of that season.)
Basically, The Cryonic Woman was lacking in the, um...quality department. I definitely would have been disappointed if they had used that as a capper for the series.
Oh yeah, and I always thought that The Why of Fry would have made a pretty good finale. It definitely tied into SP3K moreso than The Cryonic Woman did.
That, and it's an infinitely better episode.
