I wonder that there isn't a thread like this already, but both GFF and me could not find anything similar ...

In ABBFT, when the crew arrives in the internet-town there are colorful neon-signs everywhere ...
Above one building's/homepage's entrance is a dancing purple woman ... with ponytail ... Is this a coincidence now or is this Zapp Brannigan's homepage?

Go and discuss ...

Thanks to Mario (GFF) for helping me with searching and also making a framegrab of that moment.)

Yes! Here is the Framegrab:

It's realy close to Leela's body, isn't it?  :)

We searched and searched but couldn't find anything concerning this topic...

Hmm, after extensive research into the subject of Leela's body (the things I go through for science!) I can conclude that the head is a bit too round (Leela have a very tall head compared to the figure).

The arms doesn't appear to be "meaty" enough either. All IMHO, ofcourse.

I'll say it's a coincidence, but I like the idea of Zapp Brannigan advertising his website like that.

I'm inclined to agree with Teral about the shape, good theory though  :)

Anyone see the last four letters on the sign scrolling directly beneath the supposed Leela? Looks like BRAN to me... Hm...

As far as I remember it's something with "BRAIN". Going along somehow like "WHAT'S YOUR FANTASY? BRAIN-SCAN TELLS YOU!" or so ...

Edit:
It's "scan will tell you! What's your fantasy? Brain scan will tell you!"

So? Most telephone cable run underground.

No, but they could scavenge one from a garbage dumb (read: New Jersey), people throw crap away all the time.

So? Even today we can access the Internet on cell phones, pocket PC's, etc. In the future you can probably access the web through a built in micro chip in your skull, or a wrist-thingy like Leela's.

As for no home computers: see "A Bicyclops Built For Two" and "A Big Piece Of Garbage".

but the phone cable would run under old new york
the mutants are below old new york.(not a strong arguement)
if new jersey is in new york (god save me if it isn't) then it would be clean (under mayor poppenmayor's comand)
have you seen the size of amy's cell phone
where would they get the chip for the skull
and where would they get a wrist thingy

"It's gonna be many a year before someone flushes another guitar string".  This indicates that most (if not all) of what the mutants get is flushed.  However, all of the scrapbook material Leela's parents had was stuff that was simply discarded.  There's nothing to suggest that the bolder mutants don't hold occasional raiding parties to the city dumps, etc.  Gary (the three-armed mutant) held an umbrella, and the pig-nosed lady with gills somehow had cigarettes.  So, there's no end to the things the mutants could acquire over the years through luck and ingenuity.

And New Jersey can't be in New York, because the best apartment Fry and Bender found was "technically" in New Jersey.  If Jersey were part of New York, it wouldn't have made any difference.

I have to agree with Teral, Tweek, and others in saying that I don't think that's Leela. However, does anyone else think she looks sexy as a neon green lady?

If mutants have videophones, why can't they have Internet connections?

It does look a lot like Leela but the body is a bit offshape. I wouldn't have noticed this in the background. Some people are very observant.

The answer is that they used a wi-fi card to connect to a high frequency wireless router. And I think we can all assume that in the year 3000 Bluetooth range would be alot longer, meaning it's simply a matter of searching for another device on the surface to connect with... assuming they know the password of that device (if there is one) they could connect to the internet with no problems at all... There is a technical answer to all of these, but... I'm not in the mood for sharing.

Interesting frame grab and theory.  I'll definitely give you that.  But it seems to have been proven wrong.    :hmpf:
