What a dork I am; I forgot to mention "Farandole" from Georges Bizet's L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2.  "Midway March" by John Williams will always have a special place in my heart from Drum Major camp.

This is more fancy than anything. it wuld have been better to ask, something imporntatn like, what song would you listen to with headphones? or what song keeps you coming back for more, no matter how many times you listen to it? What's the song you'd want others to listen to?

I can listen to a lot of stuff withut ever getting tired of them. just a few of those are Tool (maybe cause their songs can be 20 minutes long...), Rancid, Nofx, The Clash, Me First And The Gimme Gimmes, etc...

Personally, I could listen to Fugazi's The Arguemnt, The Mars Volta's De-loused in the Comatorium and The Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots and always hear something new.

I like the actual version better than the crappy William Orbit mix, but their last album (All That You Can't Leave Behind) was just too close to pop-rock for my liking. Not saying it didn't have good songs though.

I am still looking for a good pic of amy to put in a pic with leela: two girls who kick ass! one a cartoon cyclops and the other a gothic yet friendly rock star!

Time of your life- I kept wondering why we didn't sing it at the closing campfire all 4 weeks I was at camp....but I choose one we did: "500 Miles (Away From Home)," by Peter Paul, and Mary....but I prefer the kingston trio's cover  of it better...

i'm amazed nobody has said it yet: of coure the best song ever is the song mentioned in tribute by tenacious d.
as tribute is also the only song to mention it, i guess this alone makes it a great song too.

problem solved, this thread can be closed.   ;)

Funny, because in one of the versions of Tribute I've got is that they segue into "Stairway To Heaven", hinting that that maybe the Greatest Song In the World, maybe?

Yeah, the original title for Tribute was The Greatest Song in the World and the entire thing was heavily based upon Stairway. When it was cleaned-up and commercialised for the album, they re-did a hell of a lot of it so as to leave the identity of "the song" a mystery.

My humble opinion: Stairway to Heaven is ever so slightly overrated  :p

ok if anybody else has heard of the band Dimmu Borgir please let me know cos I'd be interested....They are a Norwiegan black metal group who in there early days used 2 write some of the most symphonic metal u've ever heard....Nowdays they are basic death metal, gone the way of most bands which is sad....

I literally drooled when I first heard them....anyway one of their songs off the STORMBLAST album, called ANTIKRIST I think is one of the greatest songs ever written, the ending is just well I don't have the words for it, it sends chills up my spine ....for me anyway obviously everyone has their own opinion on the best song ever....but if u like metal download this song, (or order the cd  :D ) and tell me I'm wrong....

Best Songs? Favourite Songs?
3 of my all time favourite songs:
Jan Allain - Good for You
Frank Sinatra - The Way you look Tonight
Herman's Hermits - There's a kind of Hush (all over the World)

3 songs, I think which may be some of the best songs ever:
Cat Stevens - Morning has broken  http://www.allspirit.co.uk/morning.html
Rod  Stewart - Sailing  http://www.lyricsdepot.com/rod-stewart/sailing.html
Max Werner - Rain in May  http://www.lyricsfind.com/lyrics/7379/73507.php

The Official Best Selling Single in the UK is Elton John's "Candle in the Wind" followed very closely by Bohemian Rhapsody and Boney M's "Mary's Boy Child".

And I'm disgusted by the fact that there is no mention of The Tremeloes or Pickettywitch.

For shame.

I just realised that all the music I like is not from America!!!

I think I just can't stand their accents when they sing or something, make the song too pop like or something.

I like U2 (Irish), Coldplay (UK), Travis (UK), Radiohead (UK), Oblivia (Australia)...
