I think JB's version has ruined it for anyone else who wants to cover that song. Compared to his, all others will look puny and unacceptable. "Hallelujah" is a beautiful song, indeed. I rather fond of Rufus Wainwright's version myself, but Jeff Buckley's rendition great as well.

Well, the best three songs I've ever heard are definately Queen songs; one written by guitarist Brian may and the other two by their late, great frontman.
In my opinion, the best song that could ever be written must be Freddie Mercury's "Bohemian Rhapsody." The song is simply unlike anything anyone had ever done before or since (In my scope of awareness anyway). Combining rock, opera and a melodic, almost mystical opening ballad, the song grabs your attention and for nearly six minutes refuses to let go. How many people have consitently named this ong as the greatest of all time? Just goes to show what a visionary freddie was and how far his talent stretched. Even the title was well thought out - any other name wouldn't have fit the grandeur of the song.
The nex song would have to be fan-favorite "We Will Rock You." This song is simple, direct, short and everlasting. It's one of the songs that few people realise was ever written - like "Happy Birthday" - and the masses assume it just came into existence. It can be sung anywhere and most everyone knows the chorus if not the lyrics. And don't get me started on Queen's"Fast Version" of the song... The third best song of all time is from Queen's second - and best - album creatively titled Queen II. "March of The black Queen" is a precursor to "Bohemian Rhapsody" and is, in many ways, a better song though not as accessible. And there you have it.

I'm going to recycle my answer from years ago, when this question was last asked. It's still my favourite.
Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff: Boom, Shake the Room
You know, I requested it just last Friday night out at the club. They played it. I had quite a good feeling of satification watching those other poor drunks on the dancefloor, unable to keep up with the lyrics, stumbling over the words, forgetting the lines to the song - while there i was: cool and collected. Rolling away those old faithful lyrics like it was no effort at all, which it wasn't. My best friend joined in with some hand movements and we stole the floor. It was a good night.
