POTM was designed for Poster Of The Month and should stay that way. If there is is conclusive proof, like a newspaper report, which there should be at some stage when something like this happens, then the other thread is testiment enough to the guy's popularity.

Without meaning any disrespect, I'm not sure he'd want to be patronised with a token POTM award. Besides, it's too soon.

Sigh...
I guess this is the ultimate example of why I hate the POTM game.
If it turns out that this was an elaborate hoax engineered by davierocks, then that would be worth a POTM award. If not, the guy missed out on the the last 75% of April.
Of course, chances are this post will be ignored like most of my other posts.

Anyway, without sounding insensitive, I know POTM is the ultimate popularity contest, but I don't think comitting suidcide is a good reason to make someone POTM. I think hHis testimonial thread and Jon's site is a far better way of doing it.

I don't think it is a good idea. If at the end of the month enough people decide that due to the quality of his posts while he was here at PEEL he deserves it then that is different, we all know it is rarely just given for posts in a particular month

Sadly, depression can make the most selfless people act in apparently selfish ways. I know people have different views on this, but if Davie had clinical depression I believe his condition was responsible for his death, not the man himself. Looking at it that way, I can’t see any harm in a posthumous POTM. But it would have more meaning if everyone voted for him in the poll...

What? All someone has to do to win a POTM and a Peelie is kill themselves? What the hell am I still doing here? Seriously speaking, I agree with LAN. I'd support the Peelie, but people shouldn't win awards for things like this.

Without meaning any disrespect, my POTM nominations and votes are based on posts and posts alone. Giving him an honourary one is a nice idea, with the right intentions, but it's not the right way to honour him. Give him something he earned.

If I died, I'd rather be awarded something I fully deserved than something I didn't really. I'd just think, "My life was such a failure, they can't even honour me with something I deserved. I just get a pity award I didn't really win." Go with the PEELie. That has meaning.
