I was expecting that whoever opened up the thread this month would go ahead with the proposed revisions. The only thing that needed mArc's help was opening a separate forum for POTM, which was independent from the other changes.

I just feel like the PoTM has gotten even farther into disarray.  Before we had the relative "standards" of 3 noms, 2-3 noms from people got you into the poll.  People started complaining that the same people kept winning over and over again, and some long time PEELers had never won.  Tnuk and weiner were banging out ideas to change this, and people were generally agreeing.  Even winna was a HUGE advocate of "not letting past winners win again" as he has stated in many posts.  I understand marc would need to do work to get this into the Vault and that, at the present, doesn't really care to do it.  But for all the talk of making things more standard, returning the PoTM to it's former glory by making it more than a glorified popularity/flavor of the month contest, things are even wilder, people noming 6-9 people (or people who don't even exist).  We can still implement our own rules without marc moving this thing to the Vault.  Or because that one thing didn't happen, is everything else out?
I used to think winning PoTM was a huge honor meaning, "you are now a part of PEEL lore, etc" and I desperately wanted to win (as you know).  But now I see how pointless this whole thing has become.

I used to think winning PoTM was a huge honor meaning, "you are now a part of PEEL lore, etc" and I desperately wanted to win (as you know).  But now I see how pointless this whole thing has become.

Years ago, it probably was a big deal when you won. I've won twice, and it's a nice feeling that people have thought you were worth voting for, but really, it's not that big a deal in the scope of things.

In response to FreeHotMeal.  PotM is still an honor to win.  However, it's more of an honor to be nominated.  This was once the most enthralling aspect of PotM; for when we had PotM like no one winning twice (because FishyJoe is such a badass, as I recall), then that meant that not winning could hypothetically garner you well deserved attention over a long period of time.  Once you won though, you would be entombed in liquid carbonite never to be nominated again.  Even though we started accepting more relaxed rules, with the organic nature of how PEEL operates, and the contest was sexually violated, it always maintained its honor and dignity.  I would know, as we have been watching it from a far and measuring and calculating.  The suggestions made would merely help to return it to its former glory.  You are correct in your assumption that we can evolve to use many of the suggestions put forth without placing PotM in the Vault.  We will have to learn to do it ourselves though, through willpower and dedication.  The best way to achieve this is for the opener of the threads to recognize the suggestions we made and to assert them in a firm, clear, and concise manner.  I believe PotM will change for the better.  Lastly, please do not state that Marc does not care; he is a very busy individual, and it's difficult to ascertain what he's thinking.  I have suggested that he might not care, but I do strive to not put words in his mouth.  This is unfair to any individual, and we're talking about a person who may also be able to grant us what we ask for.  Thank you for your respect in advance.

And you registered and won twice after the change. As winna said, it was a big deal to even be nominated and show up in the poll. I spent about two years in the poll before I won.
