No, no, no! 

The person who makes the poll should refrain from initially voting because if, after a reasonable amount of time, their preferred candidate is in the lead they can cast their vote (to make the win more emphatic) and then immediately close the voting and proudly announce the winner.

Or if they find their preferred candidate in a tie for the lead they now have the option to cast their vote (securing a win for their guy), immediately close the voting and smugly announce the winner.

And if their preferred candidate fails to even reach 1st or 1st equal place then their (as yet uncast) vote wasn't going to change things, was it? Even so it can still be used to resolve an undesirable tie should one still occur.

The key is that the creator of the poll can also A) look at the current results before they vote themselves and B) close the voting any time they wish. That's a huge advantage over the run-of-the-mill PEELican. Use it!
