   Next month we use less stupid rules.

Who can argue with that?

Well, April has come and gone and since previous attempts at reaching a concensus regarding PtoM have not been particularly sucessful, I'm suggest for this round that we each decide our own criteria for which (and how many) PEELicans we can nominate.

(With the caveat that nominations for entities who did not post anything during April 2009 may well be ignored.)

While I did find the contents of the aforementioned page educational it merely served to reinforce my belief that there is no in-show reference to the written form of the name.

Hence, when it comes to made-up names of uncertain spelling, I use 'Z' in preference to 'X' because, like 'Q' [= 'kw'] (and possibly even 'C' [= 'K' or 'S']*) 'X' [= 'Z' or 'ks'] is entirely redundant when it comes to the needs of pronunciation.

* 'ch' is a bit more problematic so we can't quite turf 'C' out of the alphabet just yet.

Perhaps.  But I fail to see the fun in the name of this character without a meaningful reference.  With the usage of Z, the name lacks all meaning or reference, which in itself may suggest the usage of X.

As for nominations, I think I'll have to go with Gorky (appropriately) and Books (O Canada!).

That's truly odd; didn't know there was an actual account by that name.  When I originally nominated Innanimate Carbon Rod many months ago, I did so because I had just seen The Simpsons episode where the Innanimate Carbon Rod at the Springfield Nuclear Plant won the employee of the month award... beating out Homer.
