And a good portion of the time Bear is pretty serious.  On top of that... the whole fake account accusation ring isn't Bear's fault..... everyone else started it.  Hell I didn't even start this time.

Also... for the record mArc has explicitly stated he has no reason to believe Bear is a fake account.  And out of everybody, mArc is usually pretty on the ball with the fake account stuff.

The... I don't like all the silly posting thing... runs itself pretty thin when you take a look at it objectively.  Are there individuals posting incessantly with little weight to their posting?  Yes.  But they're doing it because:

So.  If you think people aren't having the type of conversations that you want to have, I suggest the same thing I always have: start those conversations yourself and have them.  If someone posts something stupid in your thread, ignore it.  If it's a worthwhile thing for people to discuss, they'll respond to you.  If they don't, it means they don't care.  It isn't very valid to blame the stupid people because no one else finds your conversations interesting.

I'm willing to bet that if I re-registered, didn't tell you who I was, and started posting under a new name, you'd not even notice me, much less have a problem with me.

I am in fact tempted to ask mArc if I can close "totalnerduk" and register a new account. Not for that reason, but because I have become increasingly bored of the general perception that my username evokes. An inaccurate one, that tends to become more inaccuate over time, rather than less.

I agree with winna.. I don't believe that Bear is a fake account. I do believe that Bear (and others) are driving down the post count in the offtopic forums.

Driving down the post count?  I think it's been more active lately than it was a few weeks ago when people were whining about something or other.  People are generally becoming alienated though.  I'm not sure whether this is legitimately justified or not.  There has been spamming.... but I don't think it's been on such a ridiculous scale that anyone could really be that offended.

I could be biased on the perspective.... because I am certainly guilty of similar offenses.  However, from my perspective it seems silly to believe that spamming is actually ruining anything; most being guilty of posting things that aren't directly relevant, albeit to not as excessive degree as has been demonstrated recently.

Still... I always feel that PEEL is a sensible enough community that it can be self-regulating.  I heard the word 'troll' the other day and had it explained to me.  It would seem to me that caring about insignificant things is how you get trolled.  Sounds like being brained... anyways.... if people really are spamming... the solution to me is to ignore it.  Another good choice is the notify button, which sends a message out to all applicable moderators.
