It's anything but. Even if* you discount BirthdayClown's eligibility to be included in the April poll, there's absolutely no sense in retroactively awarding ColdAngel some sort of Gerald Ford-esque POTM win because he happened to come second. That's nullifying the votes of almost 20 PEELers who, if BC was not on the poll, probably would have voted for someone other than ColdAngel.

If anything, the result should have been disregarded, and a new poll held in its place. The Wikipeelia entry makes no sense at all, outside of agenda-based politics on the part of a certain minority.

* - All of this, of course, being of irrelevant, considering how BirthdayClown's April win was completely within the rules.

On the subject of BirthdayClown's elegibility - this is a clarification to the rules that had to be made sooner or later.

The fact is, user accounts are a known entity - they either exist or they don't. The requirement that POTM eligibility rely on knowing a user's real-life identity introduces a dangerous grey area to the contest. How are we really supposed to know for sure who is behind what account? How do we know that Winna isn't behind half the accounts on PEEL?; how do we know that Faze and iliketowankalot aren't the same person? Logged IP addresses? It's easy to mask your IP these days.

The fact is, we can't really be sure about these identities without seriously compromising the privacy of everyone involved. This is why POTM eligibility must be based on discrete online accounts rather than offline identities. Sure, you'll sometimes get fake accounts nominated, but the chances of a ridiculous account like Hypnobrekky getting enough votes to win are slim.

And personally, I think this place is better for existence of DaveMason, who/whatever he may be. I think POTM should reflect that.

Nobody said that you did.  Don't know much about the fake account thing (I'm not tech enough to pull something like that off), but the HYPNoBRECKY account did stand out a little; refused to say if was male/female and has now disappeared.  Anyone see him/her post in the last month or so?

HYPNoBRECKY just hasn't felt like posting right now.... Is that so bad?  Not all accounts have to post at the same time, do they?  Sometimes people get busy with other plans and they can't do their other plan at that moment.  I don't know why you're getting so upset about someone who is a real person seattlejohn01.
