Final thoughts: Gretna Green and mechanical pencils. Not sure why.

It seemed so common to have an annual PEELies website that it comes as an astonishment to have the results posted right there. God, look at them. Wull done, everyone! Did more people vote than in previous years?

Lots more. We had about forty people voting in each poll - that's four times as many as sent votes in for some of the PEELies in years past.

Having the PEELies on PEEL helps with the encouragement and motivation, I bet.  Sending emails concerns many, either because they don't like using email (as too much work for voting) or privacy issues.

II'm hoping next year more PEELers actually get involved and we have more variety in the categories. Everyone did a bang up job this year, it was awesome. But hopefully next year we'll see more than the same 8 people nommed for awards (myself included). I just picked that number out of the air...but eight seems about right for people nommed in more than one catehory.

As for futurefreak, whoever he is, I think more than 8 people were nommed this year, and having experience in nomming people and the statistical information present, I can safely agress that this was pretty normal.  I think the blind polls helped an extremely lot this year, and through out the years, this was an interesting aspect to see evolve over time.

winna: I haven't counted, but my guesstimate is that of the 5 final noms in each category that around 8 were mentioned more than once. Next year I hope to see more Tachyons and Tedwards and CommanderZapps and SpaceMaNs

Hurr, I just did a Goofy laugh "a-huck-yuk!" which made me laugh even more at my goofy laugh.

The main thing I don't like about these awards-type things (basically just the PEELies and POTM..do we have any other things like that?) is that there are plenty of great posters out there, and I hate having to narrow down the options and only pick one for something. Unless it's really an obvious choice, like the one for Worst Beard.

I'm glad this went well, overall.  Even if Free Hot Meal lost it and left us for good. (I hope that's not the case, really.  Once schkler problems are worked out, I hope schklee can come back and post rationally.)  I'm glad I got nominated.  I'm glad so many people voted.  I'm glad a couple of my nominations ended up winning.  I'm glad I got an honorable mention from tnuk.  (I'm calling it honorable, fuck off if you don't think it is!)  I'm glad I got a couple votes too, even if it was a "negative" award.  If I'd have won I would still be proud of it, to be recognized by such an outstanding group of people, even if it's only for how bad I'd been.  Admittedly, that's not the ideal reason to be recognized, but sometimes the recognition itself is what matters.  Along these lines friendships are formed, laughs are had, tears may even be shed.  Hate and love and arguing and laughs are all part of the human experience, and one of the best experiences around is here on PEEL.  Thank you all.  [/Jerry Springer]
