Oh we just saw how many people are reluctant to send mail, especially the old-school PEELers, so this method would definitely get more people to vote.

Voting is easier also because all the names to choose from are right there and there's less of them to have to think about. Much nicer than trying to think of 5 people out of 40 or 50 (or however many..) regular users. This is an on-the-go world, none of this making an effort should be required!

Well... I recall the change for the nominating people by PEEL because the council used to do it themselves.  It made more work for the council, and people complained that the lists were biased.  Also, I was never on them. :shifty:

This time around, it's not been a massive amount of work... but I do wish that people were more motivated to actually vote. I'm seeing a lot of tied polls and close results developing... probably due to low numbers of voters.

If it comes to a tied poll for any PEELie, I suppose we can have a tiebreaker, but I'd rather that we get clear poll leaders and thus clear winners. After all, we don't give out prizes for second place.

You can see the poll results, amirite?  Obviously you would default to the tie breaker.  But I wouldn't tell anybody that out loud.  That's what I'd do anyways...

Also, these polls have only been open for like a day..... so insufficient data applies.

winna: yes, he should be able to see the poll results and yes, he could fix them by doing the tie breaking. But who knows, maybe he already voted.

Reposted from the test thread

A PEELies announcement: Several polls are currently tied. Anybody who has not voted should do so, in order to prevent the necessity of tiebreaker polls.

So GO HERE and VOTE.

If you've already voted but know somebody who has not, then please urge them to do so at the earliest opportunity. Polls will be closing on the 20th, and I think that once the winners are announced and bragging rights distributed, we'll all rest easier until the end of the year, when we need to organise the PEELies for 2011.

You guys are so aggressive with the voting...it's surprising no one mentioned this :

When you say "tied" do you mean they're tied for like...four votes each? I hardly consider that a consensus. And it's none of you to blame. People just aren't there to vote amongst the many active forum users...it's inexplicable.

Cmon winna, activate your other accounts like NotWinna so we can get this show on the road. Or persuade your sis to vote :p

I'm pretty sure I'm not NotWinna....

And I'm sure you have my sister's facebook info if you want to try and persuade her to vote for stuff she has no idea about... :hmpf:
