• Best Corrupt Despot Campaign

• Best wiki entry
• Funniest PEELer
• Most Missed PEELer
• Least Intelligable (but still lovable) PEELer
• PEELer most like their PEEL persona

and also maybe a custom title should be given to the person who has done the most for the PEELies in ther time here? Something like "PEELies MC" but less lame.

In addition, 5 "non merit" (statistical awards) that don't depend on voting. Just nomination; ie: out of the nominees, the winner is the one whose profile statics best fit the award title. When the PEELies are finalised, we should have an award for the PEELer who has:

• the highest number of poll votes cast (eg: my profile says I have 388, anybody have more?)
• the highest number of topics started
• the highest postrate per day
• most posts in ONTOPIC areas of PEEL

and....

the PEELer who has the most smileys in their first post.

Yeah, some of them aren't going to be reusable, some of them don't relate to 2008, but screw it. This, I think, is the most effective way to re-boot the PEELies since nobody seems to give a fuck.

We did have some statistic based ones last year that were in the "secret" awards section, such as "Least Likely to Win". I'd be fine with more like that, or as proposed by TNUK. It would be hard to track down the data accurately though.

I still like Tay Zonday (most likely to be an internet celebrity), POTMOTY (though POTM has kinda fallen apart), and Least in Touch with Reality.

Statistic awards should be excluded.  It is arbitrary to actual PEELformance.

Also, is "sleeper" in that list a code word for "whore"?

Last year people got upset that some of the awards were negative.... actually that's been a complaint for a few years.  I also agree with rach... we can drop wiki contributer for best wiki article, that sounds like fun. 

You could keep the avatar one and just make it say "best new avatar" since a lot of people, including new members, have gotten some neat new avatars.  Last year's winners of that award were really good.

Gudbjorg you should have gotten a url for the secret peelies discussion area, either by email or in #fc.  If you haven't, and assuming you're on the council, I'd ask Amy, since she's the head of council this year.

That has a little bit of information about PEELies and links to all the old award sites.  Someone (maybe me) could probably revamp that.... so that it's more informative on how the process works.... plus now that I think about it, I kind of want to remove all the winners listed on it, so people can visit the awards sites and (re)enjoy them as they were intended.

Btw, mom rules, what is a morals charge???

Edit: Yes DrThunder.  Just like we say PEELer I'd Like to Frak; PILF works nicely on its own.  Assuming nobody really takes offense to those, we might could retain them.  I think in general PEEL is mostly family friendly, so that's the thinking behind that.

I agree with Masty on everything regarding Tnuk's proposed awards and would add that Least In Touch with Reality is a great idea.
I would also suggest a couple of less positive ones, just because they're fun. Such as:

• Worst Poster
• Shittiest Posting Gimmick
• Worst Avatar
• Easily trolled

Also, please no statistics based awards. It will only force people (me) to shitpost more.

I personally don't have a problem with the negative awards; however, someone usually seems to take offense to it, and apparently we can't have anti-PEELies either.

The problem with some of the negative ones is that some of them are too specific.  I'm thinking especially of the child molester award.  Internet is serious business and all that, but people who don't embrace that philosophy here and in real life might think "LOL pedophile!" isn't as entertaining as those of us voting for them.

To me I think 15 categories is very limiting but I do think we need no more than 30

Since there are few actually new ideas how about a category for Avatar makers. They are the unappreciated and underrated masters of this board.

Also, I don't think we should combine artist and fictionist. That limits the nominees for these even more.

One last thing. What if we make it so that one person can't win the same category for 2 or 3 years in a row. And make it so that specific categories (like best avatar) can't win twice with the same avatar or signature.
