What's "enough to deserve one"? Like always posting interesting topics? or like help in the content of the site? Also, who has a custom rank?

Look at it this way, maybe 5-10 people out of 3000 have a custom rank, and they've been here for at least a year each, you ain't getting one.

And here is the #FCers' FAQ!

I think most holders of custom titles had been here under a year when they got theirs.

I think the #fc FAQ needs a "Why is no one talking about futurama in here" section. From what I've seen people are confused by that.

Also maybe a warning on speli. I imagine lots of newbies get raped once and leave. Unless of course you want to discourage people from the chatroom...   :)

After the most recent Test Thread posts, i added the following section:
#postlink - How Do I Link To A Certain Post?
And since 6*9's last post, i added the:
#nofuturama - Why is no-one talking about Futurama here?

i dont think n00bs in chatroom are going to look in peelfaq. (unless it's in the topic, but i still doubt it.)

Yep, most people NEVER check things as FAQs or manuals, which is stupid since they're here for a reason. I gotta admit, i'm a bad compromise between the two, i usually skim thru the things and never look back. So some basic pointers should be on the main page, just like disclaimers and the such. Look at it this way, spam is much more common than C&Ds and lawsuits, and besides, they won't be stopped or even delayed by them. Spam on the other hand, could be at least reduced by a disclaimer of sorts. Just a few thoughts.

That's sorta what the PEELers' FAQ was about. It's our guide to what goes and what doesn't on PEEL. It was written by us, not [-mArc-].

I'd like to propose an addition to this.  I'd call it "So You Want to Save Futurama?"

Haha...  good proposal....

And as to the no one talking about futurama in #fc... I normally welcome talk about the show if we have an interested n00b, but their questions tend to be similar "Is futurama cancelled?" "why was futurama cancelled?" "Is Lola your favorite character, I have sex now?"... <IMG SRC="http://peel.gotfuturama.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif">

Another acceptable name would be "So you have another crack-brained questionably-legal scheme to save Futurama?" but I thought that was kinda long.

Edit Edit: Possibly when my exams are over. But soon, I promise.

There is no one defining factor that makes someone a n00b, a slow but regular poster with a low rank is not a n00b, whereas a fast-posting new poster probably is. It's a combination of factors that individual PEELers base their opinions on, you don't suddenly become a regular.

As a n00b, I'm glad you guys give us a shot. I was very nervous to post for the first time and when I did I repeated what someone had said earlier in the thread, then double posted to apologise. No one called me on it(to my knowlege) but I read through the FAQ later and was very embaressed. I'm sure I still do things that bother people so if I'm annoying or doing something wrong please correct me. Hmm I hope this doesn't count as spamming/offtopic. Anyway, thanks.

And I take it the Real EXTREME.

Signed up in the afternoon of March 21st, 2004, and now on May 19th, 2004 i have reached 1475 posts (including this one). But i dont spam TOO much so i have found SOME respect from my fellow PEELers (FuturamaFreak, ShoopBender, etc). I'm proud to be a n00b *tear runs down proud face*

Nasty Pasty, I've noticed you only spam when Spacedal or a trolling newbie is around.

I signed up on January 25th, and I have 760 posts. I don't think many PEELers would consider me a n00b anymore.

Oh, and as far as the thread topic goes, uh... newbs... uhhhh, don't spam.

in other words, from other newbies. i dont think regulars welcome that kind of behavior. i mean, you can post a lot, but if your posts are interesting, that's fine. but i don't see any good posts from you.

Depending on who replies first, sometimes you get a "sod off we don't want you here" welcome thread and sometimes I really nice one like the one you linked to. I can't even remember mine, although I'm pretty sure I started one in my ignorance

Yes some newbs have bad luck in the first replying Peeler. I always try to be friendly (and I claim that I've always been).
I didn't get a nice welcome here, I didn't get a welcome at all   :laff:
Maybe this is because I didn't start any thread when I signed up, but posted in the games threads and won the "not another quote game" with my first post on peel.

To get back on the topic's name, I also try to help these newbs, in how to post pics, links, to search on Peel etc., although I'm still a newb myself.

Ya know, come to think of it, i didnt get a welcome to PEEL either.
*suddenly feels left out and unpopular*.

I'm very thankful looking back to see that i didnt start a really pointless n00b thread, because after witnessing a few of those threads, its really sad how those poor n00bs are literally ripped apart by PEELers. No wonder they become annoying and get angry at other PEELers. When their first experiences at PEEL are to get bombarded with "welcome to PEEL, check out the PEEL FAQ" posts and then to be totally rejected and dejected for creating one pointless thread, its easy to see why they become annoying n00bs.

But that may just be me blowing off some steam...
