What's happened to PEEL in the last week or so?  A lot of the regular PEELers have either disappeared, or are barely posting anymore.  In the last few weeks I've jumped from 18th to 12th highest posting PEELer, despite working full time for several weeks.

At the same time we've had a glut of newbies, a large proportion of whom are arseholes.  Are the rumours true?  Are major PEELers inventing alter-egos?

Hardly crisis time though is it?

Who are the regulars who are absent?  Ben, Rach, Holly, perhaps a couple more - but it's not like people are leaving in droves.  These people have lives, they'll be back, it's no biggie.

Archie and HJS are moving on to different things, they're not dying.  They'll keep in touch one way or another.

I maintain that if you believe PEEL's going down the tube, then newbies should be welcomed with open arms.  If they annoy, they'll get bored and go away, or join in with the rest of us.

Either way, it's win-win.

Cheer up!

Even I've restarted posting with gusto, which for me is a rarity.  I'll try and keep my presence higher on the board now, than what it was.

I expect they'll be back, Holly posted a couple of times last night, she is very busy though, I guess Ben and Rach are busy too, I can't see them just leaving without saying good bye.

Some new people are a bit of a pain but that is nothing new, plenty of people who are OK now started off as pains.

Bear in mind that this is exam time too so lots of PEELers will have to give up the board to concentrate on those. And its that time of year too, people are going on holidays, starting work, etc.

Yeah yeah, Holly I knew about, as we keep in touch sporadically off-PEEL.

I agree though, usually once a newbie makes it past Bending Unit, they're starting to settle-in.  New blood, fresh meat, that's someytimes what the board needs.  Keeps us old fogies on our toes.

I look at PEEL almost everyday.  I haven't dissappeared or anything, I just don't post unless I actually have something to add rather than just ":P" "Welcome back" or "hehe that's funny" to every other post.

I'm currently holding down a full-time job, trying to study for my exam resits in August and also trying to maintain some kind of contact with valued friends now that college has finished for the summer. Hence lack of posting. I do try to get on PEEL when I can.

I'm still here, though.

I have to be, because if I vanish the entire of PEEL will split apart into factions and colapse like soggy Loo-Roll.

Hell PCC, I know the feeling.

I think the word you're looking for is "efficient".

I know the threads which have interesting subjects, and the ones which are of no interest to me. I read the interesting stuff and make my contribution. I could easily post 10 reasonable posts in about 20 minutes, then go off and work out or whatever.

I said I was going to leave, well that's not 100% true. I have decided I won't be moving out of house and home, but I will be holding down a 39 hour a week job meaning that my posting time will be severely reduced.

As Melllvar said - "People have lives". The most interesting PEELers seem to be the ones who have jobs and lives to talk about, rather than posting "Turkey Rashers - In A Sandwich" or "hot" or "a banana" every three seconds.

Wow, look who I turned in to!

    • We won't hate you if you don't give us a reason to hate you
    • Don't double post, if you need to add something, we have an edit button:

I have a life too, that's why I vanish for weeks on end. Usually only my weekends contain a few spare minutes.

I have too much of a life, come to think of it. I need to cut back on the amount of living I do.

I don't understand what the big deal is, a large proportion of the people that were here when I joined are still here now.

Those people are cool, yet there are loads of cool people who've joined since, some have become like, "friends", bizarre huh?.

There's still some fairly stimulating debate going on, some fairly crappy, and some in-between.  You gotta take the rough with the smooth, every place has it's lulls and it's peaks.  We can't keep up the high points all of the time, otherwise, it'd get really old, really quickly.

I've noticed there are days in which there's not a lot of posting going, but who am I to complain?  Post a new topic and get everyone going again.  Anyone who complains that the board/community is going down the tubes, it's in their hands to change it.

I've been here 7 months longer (I win! I am teh greetest!), and I remember regulars like Hithchhiker, Bovinatron, Greg Durand, Mark, reedy2 and others. Some people stay, some people leave after a while.

But when you look at the current group of regulars, you'll see a relatively large group of 2+ year members. And a huge group who have already celebrated their first PEEliversary. So yeah, PEEL lives. Be afraid, be very afraid.
