Don't moderators have soem way of resetting post counts, my mate on another forum said he could if he wanted to (perhaps because of different code)
Karma woulld be cool being able to smite and acclaim may give some people a hint

Why does it need an Admin to delete a post, when the option is there all the time, can't it be made where were allowed to delete our own posts not other people, instead of hassling an Admin?

Moderators can delete posts too.

The reason regular posters can't delete their own posts, is the danger of abuse. A cleverly worded post (which is later deleted) can be used to make it look like poeple insult others.

Example:

Poster 1: "I like cats."
Poster 2: "You're a pathetic piece of crap, grow up you crybaby."
Poster 3: "Shut the hell up, asshole. Don't go around posting stupid drivel like that."

Poster 2 deletes his post, and later when poster 1 come back, he'll get mighty pissed at poster 3. And don't say it wont happen, 'cause it will.

The same can be said when a Moderator/Admin/Head Honcho deletes a post as well, so really the deletion of posts might as well as not exist.

I admit it's a possibility, but I trust mArc (and by proxy, the guys he hired to do his bidding), and don't think they'll do such a thing.

It's not the actual content of the posts, it's the deliberate attempt to incite flame wars that's my main concern. Any troll that happens upon our little board would love to do this.

I have seen boards that allow the user to delete their posts within 2 minutes of creation (to delete accidental double-posts, etc), but they weren't UBB based boards, and I don't know enough about message board programs to know if it's implentable here.

Incidently, the example above is a harsher version of an example mArc posted awhile back, the last time the isue of deleting posts came up.

Just to clarify: I didn't mean any of the current posters would do it (okay, maybe one, but he only surface once in a blue moon), but trolls and flamers are everywhere on the Net, better not give them any chance to disrupt, what's still a peaceful little place.

Same reason why HTML is disabled for posters too.

What was that siggy before slimmy changed it?  I think everyone needs to quit flaming juli, and juli calm down...  And everyone says that #futuramachat isn't PEEL, but who do you find in #futuramachat?  People from PEEL...  Besides whatever happens in one is talked about in the other, so everyone needs to calm down so we can have both of them running smoothly...
