I notice that a lot of the people that make nice avatars can't seem to get settings and other things right, so to save them the trouble of having to bug other people, I decided to make this.

Here you can post avatars that you've made or that you just want fixed.  I'll frequent this thread and work on avatars that need fixing.  I'm sure that other people would be happy to do the same.

Things that I and others can fix:
  • Canvas dimensions
  • Image sizing/resampling
  • Color enhancing, palette editing
  • Transparency

So basically, making them PEEL acceptable.

Before

After

So, have at it.

When I made it transparent, her skin colour went funny. And now it isn't transparent at all!

Hmmm...

Yeah, she has a light-blue outline, that's one of the things I suck at, getting rid of off-color edging.

I scanned it to get rid of the blue border, this is my try. It is in effect a new avatar as i scanned it.
I also used VF's avy to get the right colours on it.

EDIT: Yay, my aslate.net address hotlinks!

Looks nice, just one difference. Leela is wearing her dark green swimsuit, not the tank top.

If you're implying that I just filtered it, then you're forcing me to call you a blasphemous wench. I think the blurry effect came from using the wrong median grey. I really should have got out my 'PEEL colours' file, but I was too lazy. Anyway, Aslate's is much better.

Anybody who've seen the avatars I've made (MelBee's TNUK's  and other) will notice they all contain my "trademark" measles. I've just plain given up finding a way to remove those. That's why I'd like to take advantage of this fine Avatar Workshop.

Here ya' go, thanks in advance.

Hmm, a hard avatar to make this one. The problem is it's too high compared to width and she's holding half of something on the right.
My tries...

Thanks aslate. I had the same problem when trying to cut it down to avatar size, it ended up looking like the first one, and I agree with Melllvar it looks great, although the bottum one is a bit more detailed.

My main problem was to get rid of those measles spots, I just couldn't get it done. How do you do it? What program do you use? I use PSP7.

I'll mail it to drips, thanks again aslate.

I use PSP 7! Make sure it's a full colour image before you resize. Then i just resize, add transparensy and boom, done.

I use PSP 7

Save As- .gif - options - run optimiser.

Transparency - Existing image or layer transparency

Partial Transparency - Use full transparency for pixels below 1% opacity
Yes - blend with background colour (#C0C0C0)

Colours - 256
dithering - 100%
Optimised Median Cut

Interlaced

Thats what I do. Note I dont have any bg colour beforehand, the areas I want to be transparent are already transparent on the psp image.

Why can't people right-click avatars, properties and read dimensions (64x64) instead of ask?

Hawk, it's probably because you need to merge all layers and then add transparency.
