Is there any way a poll can be added to old threads? In On-Topic I've noticed a lot of episode review threads getting bumped which is great, but I always feel a bit bummed out that there's no poll to vote in. I like seeing ratings and stats in the form of polls. I don't think it's a good idea to create new threads for that purpose alone because Peel has a rich tapestry of posts to preserve, but can a poll not be added to an old existing review thread? Perhaps an admin could do it? Is it even possible? I don't know :hmpf:...

If it's not locked, I suppose either the original topic starter (if he/she are even here anymore) or Mods could do it. Talk to Xanfor.

If this isn't already a possible feature, it's a good idea for a new one. I know on one forum I occasionally frequent, topic starters and moderators can both add, delete, and lock polls. I don't know what the settings here are, but something similar to that would work for our nefarious purposes.

Moderators can add them. But I don't know if we would get enough votes for old episodes to make it worth it. Maybe if we pinned a classic episode per week and all agree to revisit that one (Until we reach Raging Bender)?

Let us spend a couple of years on that one just to make sure that the statistical average is correct. :)

We're currently doing this episode rewatch thing in on-topic, and we're going to be bumping every single episode thread at some point to discuss 'em. There are a fair number of people participating, so we could probably manage to scrounge up enough votes to make the polls worthwhile.

I'm glad to hear it is feasible. As per what Gorky said perhaps in accordance to the re-watch list each time we get to a new weeks batch of eps a mod adds a poll to those review threads on the first day? Maybe they could also edit the original post saying something like "Poll added (insert date here)" so then people will know when the poll was added to that given thread?...

Second.

Doing exactly that isn't really necessary because of the rewatch project. We could pin those three threads for a week, though. It might get people who haven't read the thread interested in the project.

What if people skip Raging Bender just to confuse you!

Well, the adding polls to old existing threads has worked very well. Thanx in particular to Randi for updating many of the old review threads...

Now onto another poll related question. This has probably been asked before, but any chance of more than twelve poll options? I'm thinking it would be useful in the character vote threads...

A mere increase to 13 poll options would allow for best-of-each-broadcast-season polls from 6A onwards.

There doesn't seem to be a setting for the max poll options in the GUI, so I changed it to 20 directly in the database. Hope I didn't screw something this way. Testing using this thread.

I believe when you rolled out PEEL 2, there were issues with how the page displayed if there were an excessive number of poll options, so you decided to cap them at an arbitrary number that seemed adequate.  I can't remember the exact reasoning off the top of my head though, and 14 does seem like a nice round number.

Did you know that twenty is the same as twice the number of letters in the word "gullible"?

Ooo, 20 options would be nice for those larger polls with many options, like Favorite Robot or Best Planet.
