I hope to have moved everything over to the new PEEL board software and server now. A few things might be fluky until the DNS is updated around the world.

Still, if you see strange things happening, report them here.

I'm curious, is the 20 page limit still in effect?

Threads auto-lock at the end of the 20th page.

Actually... currently the auto-lock feature is not on.  As of right now, the 20 page limit is still in effect, through moderator enforcement.  I think mArc is planning on working with the auto-lock feature again in the near future.

No, the posts were lost long ago (The first PEEL offtopic crash). What you lost now is just the count ;)

I don't want to risk inconsistencies in the database, so I only counted posts that were actually moved here.

Regarding the funny characters: Don't know why those didn't get converted. If they are important: Edit should work.

Ok, so I 'only' lost 39 posts.

However, in setting my time zone - I set it to be US Central Standard Time - my profile now wishes to claim that I registered on August 18, when in fact it was definitely 8-19.

I suppose there's no way around this?

Nope....  mArc floored a lot of the time information I blieve in various things.... edits and profile (maybe?) since they didn't have the time information recorded.  Editing your clock effectively edits this information to say weird things, but only for you and other people who offset their time negatively.

Is it possible to get local time on PEEL2? It's 7:49 and the forum says it's 1:49.

Okay, so I didn't come back to PEEL2 before all the beta posts were baleeted, and now I have to remember the questions that I had before.

My registered date changed from Feb 13 to Feb 12.  Why?

That's the only one I can remember off the top of my head.

If you post with the normal "reply" thingy instead of the quickpost, there is an option called "Notify me of replies" for that under "additional options".

You can also get emails whenever new posts are made in a thread (well, for the first new message in a thread since you looked at it) by clicking the "notify" button at the bottom of the individual threads you want to watch. There are some settings for how/when the emails are sent in the profile.

Also, when you return to peel, there is a link in the "myPEEL" section at the top right of the main page which shows all replies to all your posts since the last visit. You don't have to use the notification option for that to work.

A few design changes I'm trying out:
  • switched position of "first poster" and post/view counts in the message index.
  • made the background of both thread icons dark in the message index.
  • will remove "hot topic" icons to make it easier to see which threads are locked, sticky, polls, etc. and which ones have been posted to.
  • reversed the links of the "right arrow" and the linked date/time. Now the date/time will go to the very last post of the thread (as it was posted on that date/time) while the arrow will go to the first unread message in the thread (just like the "new" icon). Will make this consistent on the main page, too

Hey mArc, thanks for all the work.

Could you make it so that links are underlined like they used to? I can't see the difference between blue and black letters on my monitor. (No I'm not getting a new monitor)

Hmm, that'd be my suggestion though. The difference is pretty clear to me. All the underlining would make things hard to read. Would it help if links in posts are underlined? That'd be something I could consider.

Edit: Links in signatures, posts and preview windows should be underlined now (might need ctrl+F5 reload).

On the main page and the message index, the little arrow should now go to the first unread post of the thread while the "date/time" (and on the main page the thread title) will go to the very last message of the thread.

This is not yet true for the "unread posts since last visit", "replies since last visit" and for the sub-board listing in the vault. I will see if I can get that to work sometime soon.

Not in the post but on the Board overview and on the mainpage. It's only visible if you are logged in and should show at the right border of the table next to the "last post date/time".

mArc:

Did PEEL lines (within the post itself) break with the lengthy URL in Ralph's post here

I haven't read much, so if this has been mentioned before: Sorry.

Long URLs never broke in old PEEL either. I'd suggest that the poster edits it if it makes the thread too wide. Not too bothered about it.

Well, it depends on how you define "broke," it did stretch the page width. Since peel 2 clamps the total width, browsers resort to compressing other columns.

Might be able to prevent it by using an nbsp spacer to size the profile column, which would probably result in more PEEL 1-like behavior, forcing the whole table to expand for those long naked urls. Of couse, this might not work at all as I am not an html wizard and I just whipped it out of my ass.

Quick request:

Anyone linking to PEEL from their sites, blogs, etc.:
Could you change the link to just http://www.peelified.com/ instead of the old /cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi ?

I think I always used that url for linking rather than the Ultimate.cgi one.....  I'm sure this isn't a problem though... I'll make a note of it. :)

I remember seeing a link to PEEL Mobile. What was that link again?

Actually, P22L looks terrific on the iPhone. Perfectly fits the screen and the presentation looks fantastic. Did you plan for that, mArc?
