And a fine avatar it is. You can now freely upload your own custom avatar Cinimod. TOTP RepostingSince a lot of people ask this, let me try and clarify everything. 1. Click the profile button at the top of any PEEL page 2. Click on Forum Profile Information on the left hand side (bolded in picture) 3. Click on I will upload my own picture:4. Click on browse and find the file on your harddrive (save it before doing this) 5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Change ProfileNow note that you can only have a custom avatar if you have been given permission. That's where I come in: I can give (and take away) that permission. Anyone who already had a custom avatar before coming to PEEL 2 automatically has permission to upload their own custom avatars. People who don't yet have that permission will have to request it. Without permission the I will upload my own picture: option will not show up in your profile. I'd prefer if you showed exactly which avatar you wanted to use when you request permission. This tells me that you understand what sorts of avatars are allowed under our standards as defined on the Avatar page on wikiPEELia. Once you have permission to upload custom avatars, you can do so at any time; ie, you don't have to ask for permission first. If your avatar doesn't follow guidelines, and I see it though, I will send you a private message via PEEL explaining to you that your avatar does not meet the correct criteria and ask you to change it in whatever relevant means necessary. There is one exception to these rules that I am allowing. If you had a custom avatar that did not meet the guidelines (they were redefined by mArc right before we came to PEEL 2 and there is a link to it on the Avatar page) then I will not bother you about changing it; I figure even though it may not meet the standards, it was allowed to be uploaded by one of my predecessors and can thus be kept. That does not mean I will allow you to upload previous avatars that were earlier accepted, but you changed off of before we moved to PEEL 2. I also reserve the right to void this exception in the future if it seems necessary, but for now you shouldn't have to worry. An example of something falling under this loophole would be M0le's current avatar; it isn't acceptable under current criteria because it is not cartoonish, and it is not related to Futurama. However, assuming he doesn't change it, I'll allow him to continue using that one. I also might allow him to change it back to that if he changes his avatar for seasonal type things such as the halloween request he has made. Hopefully, all that information is rather helpful.

Are you just going to just use it for halloween Einahpet? If so, I'll modify it so that you can use it... but it's very pixelated, and I'm not too big on its extended use.
Ha ha...got that right. That "avatar" I made needs some work. Here is a better one if you really want it, Einahpet:

The real problem deals with absence of anti-aliasing. The outlining of many images used as avatars are rough and aliased. Such as the pumpkin you just posted Smarty; note, it's not a bad pic, but you do need to develop your skills in this department. The ideal here is to make everything look smooth, not jaggy. Probably the easiest solution to this problem is to make the image at a larger resolution than you're using, and then shrink it.... Ie, make that image at 128x128 and then shrink it down to 64x64 and then save the transparent color. I will readily admit that the avatars I've made aren't perfect, and in some ways it's difficult for me to convey what I mean about "looking nice" and being "smooth". Another tip that I've been given, specifically concerning PEEL, is to use a background color (for the transparency) that lies somewhere between PEEL white, and PEEL grey, that way the smooth pixels, which are not actually the color of the outline will be closer to the background they will show up on (PEEL white or PEEL grey).
As I'm sure this is for halloween anyways, I suppose I won't be too uppity about all the rules, but for long term usage I plan to be fairly adament about it. Einahpet can use either pumpkin for halloween if it fits his/her fancy.
Read the post I made at the top of the page btw Einahpet to know how to set yourself up the custom. Assuming you go with one of the pumpkins, I expect to see it changed to something more fitting sometime soonish after halloween.

It's already been modified. You have to upload it yourself though. Follow the instructions I posted at the top of this page, with the big picture. Also, remember that you will have to change it sometime after halloween. I had a look at your profile and I noticed something Einahpet, and this might help no.9man too. You can upload a custom avatar to PEEL (if you have the permission to do so) and it uploads the image from your computer onto the PEEL server. However, with the internet, we can't see pictures that just sit on your computer. Your signature does this Einahpet. If you want anyone to see it besides yourself, you will have to upload the image to a server that is connected to the internet. I usually use http://www.imageshack.us to upload my images to, but there are others; search for "image hosting". Anyways, after you've uploaded it somewhere, link to where it is hosted at, and then everyone on the internet can see it. Hope that helps a bit.

To be honest. I don't have a clue as to how sigs work
You put down what you want on your signature in your profile; it can be text, or you can put pictures in it (hosted somewhere else, like imageshack). Then, you can make it show up when you post, by clicking the reply button at the bottom of the thread. Don't use the Quick Reply box if you want to show your signature in a post. Click on Additional Options on the Post reply page, then click Show Signature. When you hit the Post button after that, your post will contain your signature. What this means... you have to specifically want to post your signature with specific individual posts... it's actually frowned upon to post your signature with every post you have, which is why it isn't so intuitive for posting signatures, and it doesn't do it automagically in the first place. I hope that helps trickster.
