What you mean is less smooth than winna's. 

I'm sure under 5k is doing pretty good.  We haven't expended PEEL by adding avatars over the years, and we have added a lot.

I will stand corrected if anyone who has authority and deals with these matters says otherwise (mArc, slimmy, GermanFryFan).

The 3.4kb is not a hard requirement. Winna's 3.75kb will do if his version is prefered. I don't know/remember how 3.4 was chosen, but it was mostly to give people an idea what order of magnitude we are speaking about. I've seen forums with avatars/sigs that take up 5mb.

Wow... 5mb!  That almost seems unfathomable to me.... The resolution must be ridiculous and I would think animation would have to be involved.  I have to admit that I do like the constraints on avatars on PEEL; it makes the board look more uniform.  I know I'm not aware of what sort of server package you've got mArc or how much you actually pay, but I just made my statement about avatar size because I figured that a kilobyte give or take wouldn't be a huge problem.  Plus, I would prefer seeing nice looking avatars as opposed to worse looking ones.

I really like the robot devil one.  Although the contrast on my screen is turned down because people sleep.  I'll look at it again in the morning cause it looks sweet.

I vote not retouched.  Assuming the one on the right is that.

I actually agree as well, I tried several things to make the text more readable and ended up deciding the other looked better, just posted it 'cause I'd taken the time.

Looking at it again the devilbot looks a bit dark... but oh well.

Hit "quote" on this post, but don't submit it; just copy the img taged part at the top. Then go to the thread winna linked and paste it into a post there and ask nicely for an upload to custom.

You'll also have to go into your account and select the custom one after it gets uploaded I think.  I can't remember if it automatically defaults to the custom one after being uploaded or not, I haven't changed mine in over 6 years.

glad to help. Later tonight I might reload it and see about brightening it up a bit, it's too dark, considerably more so than other images (like the current one), probably because it was such a dark background behind him in the screenshot. I'll replace the one in my webspace tho, so it should auto-update here and in the other avatar thread.

Hi everybody... Long time reader, first time... Well, second time poster.

Winter's coming, and as such, I'm cold. I was wondering if one of you gurus could take this image and crop it and resize it so that it resembles the exact proportions as my current avy?

There's a number of imperfections in it, I know, but they should all be smoothed out unnoticeably at 60x60 resolution...

Ok.  I redid yours Xanfor, and I redid yours Spacedal.

I did notice I'd cut off the arm a little bit when I did yours Xanfor.  It was more proportional like that without the wasted space when I cropped the original, but here is another version with the bottom of the arm:



With yours dal, I felt the colors were blotched, especially as you might see with the white, so I recolorized it...  Still wish I could do something about the tail being cropped off... but oh well. hopefully the white isn't transparent.  It was transparent, try #2:



After having done that and looking at back and forth at both... I can't tell the difference....    Whichever one I suppose....

Also... by all means, if I haven't done it right, say so.  I'd rather people have avatars they like, and that they also look well done; I kind of have a problem with jaggedy looking avatars........
