I was just suggesting that maybe we should have a different area for Futurama General Discussion and Futurama Games (pixel games and such) because it is a pain trying to find news amidst them all.
Thoughts?

I heartily agree, but sadly I doubt (@chay's head I can spell it) there will be any changes to the forum setup now...

There has been thoughts of having an actual Video Game board in itself and other ideas, but the answer of no has been the same.

And besides, the only fan game I know of in the works is currently on perpetual hiatus do to lack of programmers.

...what are you looking at me for?  Are you suggesting that, as a computer science major and aspiring game designer I should contribute to the project somehow?  Well...look!  A starling!

The reason it might be hard to find out about Futurama game news is because THERE ISN'T ANY.

I think he means a section for "General Disscussion" and a section for "Framegrab game", "Who's quote is this", "What Futurama character is this", "Alphabet connection games", etc. All those Futurama related trivia games that take up 75% of current "General Disscusssion".

I've been pondering the same thing for a while, at one point I did a count. 18 out of the 25 threads on the first page were trivia in some form or another, 4 were closed, leaving 3 legitimate threads one page 1. I actually second this sugestion...

Well I understand why you want it, yet I tend to disagree with that suggestion.

First off, it is true that the flood of game-threads is sickening to the eyes, yet an absence of "normal" threads plays a role in there as well. Since some of us already are worried about General Disscussion going downhill, I think sorting out the game threads to their own board would help. General Discussion will probably be left out, or more flooded with "favorite, best and vs. threads" than they already are, because people see that it hardly gets new posts. Beside that would an extra forum just for games lead to the point where even more games are started - since there is a special board for them.

I just did a count of game threads we have had in the past year. 24 threads are still openend, whereas about 15 are active. 50 have been closed, either due to the 20 page rule, or due to stupidity, rules or just because they were already existent.

Another point is that people have been fighting for an Off-topic game/music board for quite a long time, yet they have been told it would get too spammy and that the existing threads are enough.

Also, since we can see that some new members, as well as some older ones (*cough* KurtPikachu2001 *cough*) don't really know where to post. So I can imagine that the moderating work gets more as well.

Even though, some games need to require an IQ that even a slice of bread has, I wouldn't give them a board on their own. But these are just my opinions and as we all know, suggestions is all we can make.  ;)

What the hell does (B) mean?

I do agree however, as I have become bored playing the games, yet I can't get away from them. However GFF has a point too, but I think it's worth a go. (Assuming admins actually grant some requests... do they?)

i think fry1248 just wants to pad the post count, but won't this take up some more server space?  or no, i could be sadly mistaken

agree with what GFF said
Just do what I do, and that is just live with it. Just read the thread titles usually I can pick up if it is a game thread or a news thread. To be honest I dont care about the amount of mixed type of thread there is in General Discussion

Not to sound negative, but aside from the occassional dibble of news, is there really much left to discuss in "general discussions" that hasn't already been talked about for years? Futurama is a wonderful show, but it is finite, and there's really only so many possible threads before everything is a repeat of some other thread...

and regarding all the game threads, I can see how many of them could get old (most got old to me after a few days on the site). Some of them seem to amount to nothing but blind guessing games - if you need a complete list of every futurama episode to help people guess, and you regularly go through half the list before someone guesses it, why not just play "What number am I thinking of?"

<sorry if I offend someone who's a huge fan of the random-guess games, just expressing MHO>

I think that is a great idea ShaBuBu (wtf, you've been here since dec 04? you'll always be a n00b in my heart...). But as already stated, it would severely deplete the Genereal Discussion forum, seeing as there are no new episodes and hence nothing really new to discuss (like, did you see that hidden thing groening put in the backdrop? etc. etc...). It seems like all there is to do now is play games or chat about how we severely miss Futurama and want it to come back (of course those threads always close fast...   :p)

btw the TV forum was a spectacular idea. Who thought of that one?

yes! I see someone saw what i wrote in the pixilization game thread (and if you didn't...go see now! of course I think i did most of my bickering in the old thread...) at any rate, 100% agree!!! Just because there may be a select *few* who know the framegrab of every freaking episode doesn't mean everyone does...and those people rarely post, as it's been taking up to more than a week to guess some of the grabs...

btw...why wasn't this posted in the suggestions thread?

Very true, which is why I enjoy the cryptoquote game- it asks for a bit of brainpower combined with a moderate amount of Futurama knowledge, as opposed to most of the other games, which seem to require either a ridiculously anal knowledge of Futurama or (more likely) a heap of blind guesses and a bit of luck.
