hehe, sorry but that doesn't help in any way.   ;)

local urls like that don't work on the internet, which c:\ drive should be the reference for it?
My c:\drive, your or the server's? And even if it would work from your c:\ drive, wouldn't the picture dissapear once you turn your pc off?

Of course it would, that's why you need to host it somewhere, so that it will be available on the internet. Services like imageshack.us, Photobucket or FreeImageHosting will gladly do that for you in case you don't have some webspace on your own.
Upload it to their servers, and get the proper web-url to post here then.   :)

When thats done and that wonderguy we call germanfryfan has made the avy transparent, its the Binge drinking thread you need to make it a custom or if it's Futurama related its for pool (Suggestive it's better to have it for custom. Takes a while to put it on Pool.) See? i'm not fussing now, i'm helping which is my New Year's Resolution. So if that Gerble Guy is fussing, send him this.

Do make it your own you have to post
it in the thread dr.bender nye linked you to few posts above. Post it there with "Upload to custom" underneath it.
Sadly you can't upload it yourself, but have to wait till it gets uploaded. The next time will be in two weeks, so it's not too long to wait.  :)

what do you mean with "in my profile"?

The only places where you can store pictures in relation to your member account here at PEEL are your avatar, and your signature.

an avatar has the regulations of being:

64x64 in width x height
below 3.4 in space
*.gif fileformat
transparent if possible
and not animated.

Signatures have to be

either *.gif, *.jpg, *.png in format
smaller than 450x120 in width x height
smaller than 17kb in filesize.
and not havily animated.

It's hard to make out what is background and what is him in that picture... and then a lot of details get lost when it is compressed into 64 pixels...

Well, uh, I don't want to sound like an asshole, seeing as you're doing this graciously and for free and all, but you kinda messed up his hat in both.

Here's another picture for reference.

EDIT: Or on second thought, you could just use this picture if it's easier.

Dare I ask for a Valentine's Day custom?  I know GFF is (rightfully so) griping about changing people's customs every month, but it's just the perfect thing for such a holiday:

Any takers?

Edit: Full sized version, if that makes it easier ...

I have a little question, thought I'd post it here since this is like a Wish Board afterall. Why don't we an online upload system that allows us to upload our custom avatars, like we do our siginatures? It'll make the demands on uploads in the off-topic board a little less filled.

That has been requested quite a lot of times already. I don't know if Slimmy or Marc want to implement that now, and actually I doubt it, since the reason why they rejected doing so in the first place is still valid.

They want to have the control over what gets uploaded, so that avatars are suiting the board rules and being free of adult content.
Also it would lead to people changing their custom avatars far to often. Like I said quite often, an avatar should represent you and indentify you. It's easier and much faster to recognize the writer of a post by his avatar than to read his name. If you change it too often that attribute simply dies and becomes annoying to people.
So far I don't have a single problem with keeping track of who wants what, and I think the uploading of once a month is more than enough. ... especially if you may remember that during your first year it needed up to 6 months to get an avatar uploaded.  ;)

PS. while I am at it:

The next upload will be few days before Valentines day!

gff, that sounds very sensible and reasonable. I can't argue with it. However, it raises a question:
Why are users allowed to upload sigs? Isn't that even easier to abuse than avatars? On top of which, I've gathered that marc and others don't like sigs in the first place? (can you add a way to post sigs in the quickpost option? marc: "No. that was part of the idea of the quickpost, to reduce sig abuse." something to that effect.)

you know I have wondered about that as well...

As far as I know signatures even got more restricted than they already where. You aren't allowed to use the [img]-tags in it, but have to use the signature upload feature of PEEL. I've been told that got installed after people whould have abused it by posting pictures that had some kind of php encoding to it, causing PEEL to crash.

Also a point is that signatures are able to be deleted by the moderators (just post, by post actually), while avatars aren't. So there still is some kind of control over the signatures.

hmm. I had forgotten how much Paint sucks. And how much I hate touchpads as pointing devices.
I was going to do it myself, but I can't seem to save in paint as anything but a bmp without it seriously mangling the palette.

so, gff, Could you make this one into a gif for me? I'd be in your debt forever. (well, for 15 minutes anyway)

The direct-link probably won't work, but I'm gonna check...

here's a regular link

oh, if somebody's already using this and I haven't seen it, let me know and I'll think of something else. And yeah, I know there's a very similar one in the standad avy set, but I like mine better.  :)

Eh, it's a PEEL policy that new Pool/Futurma avatars should face towards the post (to the right) instead of looking away from your text. I haven't made that rule, it was stated in the FAQ by aslate even before my time.    :)

Exeptions are only made with some PEELers ... stupid two class community   :hmpf:
