You could cover you ears and go blah blah blah blah. but eventually some people will tie you up and cover your mouth so you cant cover your ears or make a noise and they shout to you "Futurama is cancelled and there's nothing you can do about it" over and over until you accept it.

I think that instead of bringing back a whole season maybe they should just make one new episode and see how well it does. If it doesnt make them much money then i can understand why they would pull the plug. The cost shouldnt hurt them very much. I heard its just about 1 million dollars. This would be just one episode. Sort of like a pilot.

Yeah, because anyone with 60 million dollars would use that to buy nothing but DVDs instead of maybe food, clothing, and shelter.

Come on buddy, give it up. Seriously, these nice people all tried and I appreciate their effort. Let it go.

Ironically, I'm listening to a song with a chorus that goes "Leave it alone...follow the grain...we couldn't stop the irresistible force...leave it the same...change with the leaves..."

I think this is a really stupid topic to post. Cmon,All the people that dont think Futurama has a shot at coming back stop trying to bring people's hopes down. Your at a message board full of Futurama nerds. How can you not expect people to be talking about it returning. Especially since Futurama has gotten popular after its cancellation. The Fans demand more episodes so dont come to these message boards not expecting talk about a return.

If you have opinions on the show coming back you should be posting in either the OPERATION SAVE FUTURAMA thread or THE TABASCO SAUCE OF FUTURAMA.

This thread was created for people who are just as thickheaded as you but believe in the opposite.  Stop harasing them.

You kids have been trying for what, 2, 3 months to get Futurama back?  Try it for 2 to 3 years while failing miserably the entire time, and then come back and tell me I'm the one being thickheaded.

Have you noticed that the people who started this topic have been part of PEEL since like 2001 or 2002... and many of them have made efforts to get the show back and saw that it didn't work. The person who started this topic said he was a fan and still is but just thinks that the show is dead (not my opinion but I respect his because he made good points).

But, this topic is a very opinionated one so I just say we should agree to disagree.

I'm not sure this is the right thread in which to post this, but here is my opinion on the whole thing:
1. Futurama is, in all likelihood, done.
2. People who want to send anchovies and whatnot to FOX have every right to do so, although I don't think it'll do much good, at least in comparison to buying DVDs.
3. I'd like to have #1 proven wrong.

Its weird I listend to them the other day as I was looking through some old C.D's I'm only 17 and I'm already embrassed by things I bought a few years ago.

and We cant agree to disagree because your wrong. the only slight hope you have is to buy about 50 DVD's each which I don't think people are going to do.

I wasn't talking show coming back when I said lets agree to disagree... I was talking about the people who still sign the petitions and so forth. Anyway I basically agreed with you guys saying that the elder members of PEEL have tried to get the show back and nothing happened.

Geez...

1. We had four great seasons. What's so terrible about that? I LOVE futurama and I'm glad I don't have to see the day when it runs out of jokes and gets lame.

2. It's a TV show. That's all. These things happen, find something else to worship if you're that desperate. Or turn the TV off, sit down with your kids, and hit them.

3. As far as I can see, this thread was only started because people were annoyed that bandwidth was being taken up by pointless threads. Well, this topic is now 3 pages long... Congratulations.

Well, we were complaining that about ten different idiots lined up and started topics all about the same thing, a hopeless thing at that especially because there had been people trying for years to get the show back. It's not going to happen. And I'm content with four seasons anyway.

Based on everything else you said, if you stick around PEEL, I can tell I'm really going to like you.

I don't hate everything, but it's more fun to talk about things I hate than things I like because nobody really cares when you talk about things you like, and you just become another boring nobody.

Yeah, I know, it's spam. But if a mod can do it, so can I.

Wow, mic did something right for once in making this thread  :p (even though newbs will be newbs and not do as you say  ;))

Anyway, I don't think there's anything wrong with hoping for the show to come back, but realize that there are incredible odds against you and that chances are very good it won't come back.  But it's prefectly right, I think, to want it to come back and hope it will....just as long as you know that's very far fetched.

And I think it would work in our countries since there's one region for the entire Europe as far as I know.
At least Russia got a fifth region officially. Which doesn't prevent me using both R1 and R2 DVDs.

And I also know it is possible to download them, but that possibility is rather theoretical than practical.
I used to download a 220 meg MPEGs over a 56k dialup connection, and downloaded over 18 GB of Futurama episodes before buying DVD sets and switching to DSL  ;)

OK, it's time for my two cents.  I would like to apologize in advance for any hard feelings that I might bring, but this is how I feel about all this.

First of all, I think it's a great thing that people are creating "Bring Back Futurama" petitions, but I do agree that it is futile.  With God-knows-how-many petitions out there and no response from FOX, we should realize that they are being assertive and refuse to bring back Futurama.

Second, the people at FOX are a bunch of dickheaded republicans who don't give a shit about how many signatures are on a petition.  If there's one thing republicans (and FOX) care about, it's MONEY.  In FOX's case, it's MONEY and RATINGS.  Futurama was a cult show for geeks like us, and cult shows do not accumulate high ratings.  Lower ratings=less money=more chance of that show being cancelled.  FOX, like basically all broadcast stations, are willing to keep whatever shitty programs are on the air as long as they get a lot of money.  If a show is just 30 minutes of an idiot with a finger up his nose doing nothing but standing around going "DUUUUUH" every five seconds (basically half of the shows on FOX), they'd keep it as long as the ratings piled up.

Third, there should be only one "Bring Back Futurama" petition.  That way, more signatures can show those FOX executive assholes just how many people are loyal to Futurama.  But...

Fourth, there's more we can do.  We can purchase more merchandise, watch it every day on CN, tell our friends to support it as well, anything!  We are capable of so much more than bitching about how much we miss it on these threads, which I doubt the FOX executives will drop in and read.  And I think they believe they have better things to do than read a bunch of opinions on a show they ran through the garbage disposal and fed to CN.

Thank you.  Though Mic is right, we should never give up.  Someday, FOX will look back at the mistake they made and create new episodes of Futurama, or at least show reruns.

Futurama will come back the day I get a girlfriend who is both reasonably good looking, and intelligent.

FOX has no heart.  Futurama fans aren't their market, it's more the 16 - 25 year olds that want to watch the same old recycled junk.  Shows you how apathetic capitalism can be to a minority.

And you have very good points, and lots of energy, and obviously won't let this go without a fight.  But your fight is sensible  :)

I think that is obsessive to ban all talk about bringing futurama back. It seems almost as if you supported FOX's decsision in cancelling it.

It's not really hurting anyone is it? I don't really think it'll come back from complaining, but I don't see the harm in trying. I'm not taking the time to try, but I think it's very important to others. Bring Back Futurama campaigns are a waste of time.  I'm doing what I can to bring it back by preordering the DVDs and buying merchandise and watching it on CN, but if it doesn't come back, that's that.  There's nothing I can do about it and I'm fine with that.  The show is great, if there are no new episodes, that's fine, the show will always remain my favorite show and will be a classic.  I have a lot of merchandise in my room, though I don't watch it as much as I used to.  I plan on preordering the 2005 calendar, ya know, it's still in my life and it can stay that way.  If they make new episodes, great, I'll watch them.  But if not, I'll just continue liking it.

That is the feeling I get from the above quote.  Please read the first post properly; I hate FOX as much as you do.  Understanding is the key to knowledge, it's why we don't live in trees still.

Yes, they can waste their time!  I'm trying to save them the bother.  Meh, I don't own them, I'm merely the suggesting that after AFF that they stop.

I'm sorry if this was mentioned before, but I didn't feel like reading through 100+ replies.

I read somewhere that Matt Groening has the rights and everything for the show, and rented (or leased, or something like that) the episodes to FOX. The reason it got cancelled was because FOX didn't order any new episodes. This then broke up the production crew. So it got cancelled in 2002, and the last episodes aired in 2003.

Is this true or not? If it it true, then it would be simple to make new episodes, and air them on a different network, or Cartoon Network.

Again, sorry if this was mentioned before, but in all the other threads I've read about saving Futurama and such, no one has mentioned anything about it. (If it was true of course.)

Eyedol7513: I think it's been mentioned before.  FOX still own the rights to the show, regardless of wether it airs or not.  How do you think they can still make "official merchandise" and sell the DVDs?   :)

Oh, and there's a little FAQ now, which needs some work.  Thanks for the idea of it.
