In the Simpsons episode that premiered tonight, "The Way we weren't", there's an Asian girl who looks just like Amy and sounds just like one of the Amazonians.

According to http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=110616

that asian Girl is Cookie Kwan. She's from "The west side" and appeared in episodes like "Reality Bytes" and "A Star Is Born-Again". Still, she looks like Amy to me.

I think she looks and sounds more like her mother, Enes (sp?).

But her voice is too deep to be Lauren Tom, or is it?

No it definitely aint Amy's voice, but it does sound like her mother's.

Does anyone have a screengrab to refresh my memory of what she looked like?

Cookie orginally appeared in "Reality Bites" during season 9 in 1997. She is voiced by Tress Macneille.

Amy's mom's name is Inez, not "Enes". And Cookie Kwan is voiced by Tress MacNeille, not Lauren Tom (though I wish they got Mrs. Tom to voice Cookie). As for Cookie looking more like Inez than Amy, you're forgetting that Inez is suppossed to look like an older version of Amy.

And here are more pictures of Cookie "possible inspiration of Amy" Kwan:

Lastly, I think Cookie sounds more like that Amazonian who talked about Women's basketball and stuff than Amy or Inez.

Maybe I was thinking of that other Enes who Fry thought was his grandfather, thanks John.

Well back on topic, but not quite exactly on it, how many times have they had Futurama and Simpsons characters have Cameos on each shows?

There's other threads discussing that very exact topic but I'll be damned if I'm gonna link them right now...
Maybe later or by someone less lazy/tired.

You guys just noticed Cookie Kwan now?

She's been on The Simpsons for a couple of seasons now.

Well, I only occasionally watch Simpsons nowadays and there are a TON of Simpsons episodes I haven't watched.

P.S.: Has anyone else noticed how similar Cookie and Amy look before I did?

What? They don't look similar at all! You just assume they do because they're both Chinese. I mean, come on. These characters remind you of them, but they're not rip-offs.

Amy's hairstyle is much cooler, mind. She's more important in her show than Cookie is in hers, which is why her design is a bit more distinctive. You know Matt Groening's theory about memorable characters being easily identifiable in silhouette.

If Cookie's last name is any indication, she's probably Korean, not Chinese.

Does anyone have a frame grab from the new episode on Sunday? If i recall, her hairstyle looked more like Amy's. But then again, i could be tripping, so who knows.

Cookie and Amy don't really look alike to be honest. The fact that they are both of Asian descent seems to have hoodwinked you John Pannozzi.

The only other time I remember Cookie being on the Simpsons was the real estate episode[another episode with Gil, so you know it's a winner]. Where else has she turned up?

There was a Cookie Kwan ad in the church in "She of Little Faith".  Ever since I guess they decided to bring her back more (at the time of "She of Little Faith" she had stilly only appeared in "Realty Bites" ).

Resemblance is completely coincidental, given that Realty Bites was still quite some time before Futurama premiered.  I don't even see the resemblance to be honest, though Amy's mother looks a little closer to Cookie.

Yeah youre right Bartman, with that type of hairstyle, she looks much more like Enez than Amy.

You're not tripping, Nasty Patty, I also thought in the new ep. Cookie's hairstyle looked just like Amy's. Even her skin color was very similar.

Well, I don't think the hairstyle is all that similar.  And the skin color is a given considering both characters are of asian descent (and yes both shows usually color their characters differently, but Simpsons has to alter the skin color of characters of asian descent so that descent is clearer).

Wow John, that's dedication.

I don't really see the resemblance aside from the fact that they're both of obvious Asian ancestry.  Cookie's voice and Amy's mom's voice do sound similar, though.

Hmmm... she looks a bit heavier than amy, and older too. Other than that, we may have a long lost twin! Either that or Matt wasn't feeling creative enough to come up with two completely different characters.
