In a clone of my own, when Farnsworth announces that he's naming a successor for his work, Zoidberg says in this strange way "A successor to the professor??". And it really sounds like that would be the name of the episode, if I wouldn't have known the episode title when I watched I would have bet it was that. The way he says it is funny but it's not actually a joke so whats the deal with this line??

Bless you, sir, for setting me up so gracefully for this quote:

Mike Nelson:  "When the movie's title is spoken in its dialogue more than once, it's usually not a very good movie."

This also applies to shows.  When Zoidberg said that line, it was funny.  Though if the episode were to be called that - it wouldn't have been.  So I salute them in not naming the episode after something said in the actual show, because that's just lame.

I write it off as another Zoidberg Quirk... plus the tone of his voice suggested it was a question, rather than a statement. If you imagine his saying it as if it were a statement, it doesn't sound as funny.

Zoidberg is just a master rapper. He can bust a rhyme at any point in the day. Leave him alone.
