When I came over to to America I was shocked to find out over 75% of the people I met din't have a clue what Futurama was! Why d'you tihnk that?

Does that mean that 25% actually knew what it was? Because here it's like 2.5%. Or less.

Of course, if you're in the right place everyone knows Futurama (and fortunately I know a lot of nerds)

Did you actually walk around polling people, or is this just people you normally would interact with?

Almost everyone I know here knows about it. Of course I told everyone here what it was in the first place...

blame FOX on that mishap. They did little advertising, and gave it the worse timeslot ever... then moved around.

You know, that would be an interesting idea, polling people to see if they knew what Futurama was. I'd do it at my school, but everyone there thinks I'm weird enough without me coming up to them and polling them.

My brother knows! He likes Bender! But I hadn't a clue what Futurama was until like a year and a half ago. I think that we will live. Cause if you ask me, it's more popular now that it's canceled than it was before!

College kids in the US all know what it is.

Not all college kids.  But I'd say more college kids at least have heard of it, than say someone random from the general population.  Rips of the DVDS or TV are easily found on our computer network, along with all the other hip TV series, and lots of illegally downloaded music.

Didn't Fox advertise the show or something?

After season two, it was so rare to see an ad on tv that I think I managed to see only three or four ads for the show within about three years.

They pretty much dropped support of it.

I think the line "It all starts Sunday at 8 [pm]" pretty much sum up their effort to promote the show.

By that logic Futurama would have 25% of the population watching it, which would be around 70 million.

Edit: Acutally, what I just said makes no sense at all. Oh well, screw it  :)

I give all of the credit of good advertising for the show to cartoon network. They brought Futurama to many as well as me. It saddens me to say that the first episode I saw was of season 3.

<greiving sigh>

I wish I had seen it from the beginning!

I am now completely obsessed with Futurama and have been for over a year, and I try to tell so many about it while they hear me talking about it, quoting it, watching it(all of the time), and praising all of its glory! "I do my best dammit" - Bender

It is so sad that I can't reach everyone!

It's weird that Futurama has this power to convert people.  I saw my first episodes on the internet last fall, September I think, and since then I've also been doing everything to convert my friends.  Several of my closer friends and housemates are now really into it, and they certainly ALL have heard of it.   :)

I think another guy said it before me, so I'm going to use his words: "I used to think people were crazy for saying Futurama was better than Family Guy, but after watching Futurama more extensively, it seems to be the better show".

Considering that I got the first three DVD sets in a span of about three months and some odd days, I'd say I'm obsessed.

Futurama is hardly been shown at all in the UK recently. They showed all of season 4 episodes at about 1 in the morning on channel 4! I mean not many people watch TV at that hour. I had to buy season 4 to see all the latest episodes!

Many people in my area love Futurama but didn't know it was cancelled. Some of the people I know just watch Futurama, not Simpsons because they don't like it.

@ Davey: How much did Sky+ pay you to advertise them?     :p
