It is impossible to understand the rules of blernsball with our unfuturistic minds (according to "Fear of a Bot Planet" )

Yeah well in "Fear of the Bot Planet", when it would show Leela holding the scoard board, it looked impossible. Good luck.

I think if we were to do such a thing, then we will have to make up a lot of it. I don't think the writers made complex rules that go along with the game. They just wanted to make it look confusing. You can try. If you get any further in understanding it, then let me know.

I guess you can start by basing it off of actual Baseball, and then just BSing from there. It might work, who knows.

Well we do know the ball is on a string and MG or someone on the S3 commentaries said it's baseball on a string.

I have a lazier suggestion, we sit around on our asses and watch an episode that has Blurnsball in it instead. That way we avoid the dangers of actual exercise.

i dont want to list any baseball rules, and i just want some we know, like when the ball enters the hole in the ground in the outfield multiball is played, and the batter rides around the bases on a motorcycle. Theres also some from a leela of her own

That's a bad episode. I think that exercising though and getting aimed by the blurnsball would be fun. BUt an idea, like some of you have said, why don't we just use the rules of baseball and give it a little spice. If you know what I mean.

No it isn't. Only truly hilarious moments were "I win." and "Hit ball here and win the game." And Blernsball made too much sense... but anyway, opinions and all that guff...

Edit: Bah! Spacedal beat me to it!

We could just play it like Calvinball... Make it up as we go along. Put a baseball on an elastic band, make up some elaborate score sheet, set up a few basic rules, and go from there... We could add all knew rules to some database on the internet or something. Hey, just a thought.

No tarantulas! I'm freaked out by that Fredy & Jason dream I had already! I hate, let me repeat, H-A-T-E spiders! And for my phobia of spiders I'd like to thank Hollywood for making Ice Age. Because if that movie was never made, than my best friend would of never made me go with her, if I hadn't of gone I would of never seen that giant spider on TLC. Damn you Hollywood!

And the ambulances to carry the players around the bases after they get beaned.  Wouldn't it be cool if an ambulance stole a base?

Blurnsball shouldn't have rules. The way it didn't make any sense is what made it funny. It would be of no comical value if it made sense(you know, like how it was exactly the same as real baseball in A Leela Of Her Own).

Is it just me, or does blernsball seem much more like standard baseball in "A Leela of her Own" than it does in "Fear of a Bot Planet"?

Yes. I think Paddy Verrone wanted to write an episode about baseball, and he didn't want to let the fact that it's now Blurnsball get in the way of his vision, so they watered it right down to baseball with a rubber string to come as close as possible to his specifications.

That's probably a good explanation.  In the commentary for ALOHO, they say it's just baseball on a string, and the odd stuff happens when you hit a grand slam blern.

Like Verrone, I'm a baseball fanboy, and I really like the idea of baseball that you can just add whatever you want to.  I like how they tipped the umpire.

I don't think a ball on elastic would work would it? It'd be too heavy and it'd wrap around the bat.

Kind of on topic, it would be cool if someone did and then made a Futurama (sports) game about it.

I would've liked to have seen another Blernsball themed episode in which the Planet Express had to play blernsball against Lrrr and his people, or Mom's sons with a team of robots under her control.

The major problem with A leela of her own is that blurnsball was just baseball on a string.  It didnt have the complete insanity it did in other episodes.  So any other episode would need to have entirly unexpected events on the field

No. The major problem with A Leela of Her Own is that it sucks. No excuses for bad episodes.

You might get into trouble with me and Teral with that attitude.  ALOHO rocks.  It's got Randy, and Bob Uecker, the only major league baseball player to ever answer the fan mail I wrote as a youngster.

I actually thought it was a good episode as well, if you take out the ending and that Jackie Anderson bitch.

The ending was actualy what saved the episode for me. Any other show would of had Leela hit the ball and not be the worst player ever, but Futurama, cynicaly and yet fulfillingly had her fail but come to terms with it. And that's why Futurama rocks.
