Anyone else notice how brilliantly humorous and clever Tyne was with TDHAIP's opera scenes...Leela's backround music cracks me up...but maybe it's just because I'm a musician...comments?

I'm a musician and quite frankly I thought the opera sucked. I got nauseous watching it. But that's the only episode of Futurama you'll hear me badmouth.

I don't think anyone should attempt to compare it to actuall opera's or classical music (Holtz is the man!). For what it is though, it's excellent! For some reason I love the line "Deceptions' the curse the curse of my whimsical gender." HA! Take THAT women everywhere! (though the lines just there because similar lines appear in other opera's and plays).

Also...um, why is the music during Leela's aria funny? And yes, I know nothing sucks the humour out of a joke like explanation... well, except simply not getting it, that is.

I thought the opera was great. I love when the characters randomly burst into song. If they ever do a movie (yeah i know, but i girl can dream) i hope they make it a musical. Like the south park movie.

in my opinion that would suck some serious arse, only south park could get away with that although a couple of songs would be good.

2 songs in a 90 minute film would make it a musical? there must have been about 15 in south park. think if i went to see a musical and there were only two songs id be pissed.

I loved the opera, Fry's actual opera was intended to be silly because it's funny and the characters actually bursting into song I thought was fantastic, the cast were suprisingly good singers, the lyrics were alternatively memorable, hilarious and moving and the staging and animation was perfection itself.

Best line: "I can't believe everybody's just ad-libbing."

Nah, I meant the music itself...although I love the line cut from the table read:
[when Leela asks Fry about the concert he was at]"no, it wasnt really music...more like...improvised gibberish..."
 "I love jazz!"

Hee...that line makes me think of all the Dolphy I love.
No, I think the ochestration was so well done and sterotypical of opera that it was great(the dialogue was more musical comedy than opera). The contrabassoon and high reed behind Leela's aria had me in stitches...plus there was this really great ascending line and gliss down during OperaFry's section with the robot devil...damn, I am SUCH a nerd..
