The episode that first got me hooked was the first one.  I saw ads for the premeire and ever since then made sure I was either somewhere to watch it on Sunday or recorded it.

I saw "Space Pilot 3000" when it first aired and watched it ever since.  Well, tried.  Stupid FOX kept changing the time slot/getting the show pre-empted by footbal games etc and then me forgetting when it's on.  But since it's moved to the Cartoon Network (and been cancelled.  Damn, I always get hooked when a show is cancelled or on their last season)I've been obsessed ever since.  I can't go thru the day without watching at least 1 episode.  I can't wait until Aug 24th and I can finally go out and buy Volume 4 and my Futurama DVD collection will be complete! MU HA HA HA HA

Second and third acts of Anthology of Interest II. Good thing I missed the first part, or I might have been completely turned off Futurama.   :puke:

It was probably a Bicyclops Built For Two. We get limited episodes in the UK. I was just lucky to turn on channel 4 at the right time.

I have no idea. Probably not. It got about one slot a week at one point, but it didn't run for very long.

Sure, we still get re runs on Cartoon Network.  Fox hasn't shown even re runs since, oh, about a year ago.

Well, if you really want to be specific about the airing of Futurama in the UK, it's played often on Sky One and Sky One Mix but that's limited to satelite or cable owners. Channel 4 hasn't played out Futurama at a good time for near 4 months now, last time being shown in a graveyard slot at 2:30am.

I knew I loved Futurama from the first clip I ever saw of it. But, when I saw Three Hundred Big Boys, I knew it was my favorite show, and also, (of course) it's my favorite episode. Right now I'm laughing at Zoidberg in The Birdbot Of Ice-Catraz
Fry- "Leela even let me sit in her laugh... In this comic I drew"
Zoidberg- "Great, the new one's out!!

Im from australia and the only place it is on is Sunday 6:30 on Fox8 which is on cable. im just lucky i have the first three seasons on DVD and my best friend has all four other wise i wouldnt have seen it at all (except when it used to be on about 6 years ago)(probably less than that i cant actually remember)

Anyway the eps that got me hooked were SP3K, Bicyclops built for Two and Why Must i Be a Crustacean in Love.

Actually, Futurama was on in Australia this year (Tuesday 11pm). But I doubt they'll show anymore of them...

And them Americans and British don't exaclty have free-to-air access either.

The First episode (I remember) I watched over and over again was 'Where the Buggalo Roam'. All those Zoidberg jokes are hilarious. 'Maa, Paa, don't ask me to choose..'  :)

Resurrects another ancient thread...

Well I guess I'm different from most people here because although I knew that it's existed for some years I didn't start watching it until the last couple of months because it just doesn't air very much here and when it does it's very erratic and even then it's been almost impossible to catch it even if had wanted too. I remember hearing the news though that it had been cancelled in the last year or two and feeling quite shocked, because I thought that Fox would never cancel anything by the creator of The Simpsons.

Anyway a couple of months back I changed my job and when I got home from work at a different time it was on. I started to watch it because it was on at that time, the eps I remember seeing first was either "Amazon women in the mood" or "A Flight to Remember" can't quite remember which, but gradually it got my interest and I would look forward to it, a bit like The Simpsons when it used to air on 2 and before it went stale.

Then they changed the scheduling and I started to miss it. Very frustrating. Then it disappeared entirely from the schedules again. Enough of this I thought, I'll buy the DVD boxset and watch the whole lot right from the start and stuff Sky, fully intending to sell the DVD's after I'd seen it.

I watched the whole lot from season 1 to 4. I wasn't that keen on the first season or so but it grew on me and by season 3 something extraordinary had happened: I'd fallen in love with it. I got all the in-jokes, the endless Trek parodies etc, I thought it was brilliant.

Unlike a lot of people here it seems judging by reading the episode comments, I much preferred season 3 and loved season 4. Since I'd already known that it had been cancelled for a long time it didn't bother me that the season 4 eps were very likely to be the last ever and loved the final ep "The Devils hands.." etc."

Then when listening to the final episode audio commentary where David X Cohen says that they weren't absolutely sure at the time of making that this would be the final ep, it was like 50/50 whether the show would be renewed so they didn't want the characters to wave goodbye, but instead chose to have it end on a really sweet note, hence no real closure (unless David or Matt decide to 'fess up one day and tell us what was supposed to happen between Fry and Leela and what all the extra secrets were that never got told because they thought that they had 10 years to tell them all) it suddenly sunk in that thats it, theres no more after this, no more Leela, no more Fry, no more Planet Express, thats it, a big fat zilch. And I suddenly got quite emotional.

So thats it, really. Quite a short history for me but boy did I come to love these characters, all of them, even the amoral sleazebot Bender. And I can't quite believe that it's ended. And it's a shame that most of the interesting threads and episode comments here are history because theres quite a bit that I'd like to have said. Ah well.

Well, that's my story told. And I've decided to keep the DVD's. Theres no way that I'd part with them now.

Interesting story Chug a Bug! I can relate a lot to it, since mine is familiar (yay?   :p). I can't quite remember what ep made me love it way back when it was aired on TV. It was shown over here, although on a rather stupid time, so I missed most of it (the fact that I don't watch much TV plays a role, too).

Anyway, they only showed the first 3 Fox seasons, I think. Then it just stopped   :( The earliest I saw was probably "A flight to remember", I had a vague memory of it for a long time. Then I saw about 1/3 of 2nd season, which really formed my view of Futurama. I didn't notice any shippiness and emotional undertone there and then, just that crazy, slapstick show. Really loved it, nonetheless   :D

Then my classmate, who has all the DVDs, brought one from season 4 to school to watch during lunch, last February/January. There I saw "The Sting", and I've already explained my reaction to it in another thread. In short, I was shocked. This wasn't the Futurama I was used to! Couldn't concentrate on anything for the rest of the day.

Anyway. Turning point? Last October. My older brother borrowed 2 DVDs from 4th season--I got HOOKED. And then my aforementioned friend borrowed me 3rd season (my request   :D). And I just returned it to her yesterday, actually ^^ It makes me so sad not to have it, I'm going crazy! But I've bought all the other 3 seasons   :D

I guess the episode that really got me was either Jurassic Bark or Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles, back when my brother got those DVDs. Although I still like to think of The Sting as THE episode that got me hooked, because it's the ep that has moved me the most and all that razzmatazz.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make a whole essay here, or to mimic Chug a Bug's story in any way! It just kind of flew out, I started typing and it just got out. Anyway, I'm with Chug a Bug on this on; I'm so angry that I got into Futurama so late in the game.

I don't remember if I posted here yet, but if I did, then oh well.

Cartoon Network ([adult swim]), got me hooked into 'Futurama'. I remember seeing "I, Roommate", and it brought back good memories. So there it is. (I can't even remember seeing the last episode I saw on FOX. The only thing I remember was seeing promos for "A Flight To Remember". Which is even rarer, considering this was the start of FOX starting to really bury the show.)

I've said this before in other threads, but I want to say it again because it brings back such good memories. About two years ago, I went over to a friend's house with the intention of watching all of the Simpsons episodes that he had on his computer. After a while, he got bored, and made me watch the new, unfamiliar thing called "Futurama". I thought that it sounded dumb, but after the first episode, I started liking it. I proceeded to stay up watching all of the episodes. The next day, I went to my local video store and found that they rented the Futurama DVDs. I went home and watched A Flight to Remember, and that's when I truly became hooked. That one montage basically summed up all of the awesome humor, animation, writing, etc. of such a great show. I couldn't stop after that, and eventually bought the DVDs and found PEEL. That's my pointless story which you probably didn't bother to read through, but it means a lot to me.

a) It's spelled PETITION.
b) We've already done plenty of petitions. This is a forum of essentially thousands of Futurama fans, and hundreds of regular posters - you don't think we've never tried to get the show back before?

Believe me guru, we've started many petitions. Including a popular one that got over a few thousand sigs. Not to mention the failed "Anchovies for Fry" where we sent dozens of Anchovies to FOX HQ with pleas to bring back the show.

But we havent lost all hope yet dude.

And PS: Welcome to PEEL. I hope you enjoy your stay with your fellow Futurama fans!  :)
