To Explain:

Some things in the futurama universe just don't add up, make sense, or happen the way they should.  This is a pretty broad assumption, given that this guide is based on a cartoon show about a 1000 year old pizza boy who did the nasty in the pasty, but nevertheless.  I just think it'd be a fun thing to do.

Ah, for example:

In the episode 'The Route of All Evil', Bender sits on the stove in order to cook the beer fixins.  We clearly see Bender hop onto the stove and turn the fire on.  He then proceeds to hum and kick his feet as though bored.

Now in 'Proudly Made on Earth,' Bender is using his cavity to grill hamburgers for the crew.  Fry mentions his father working at McDonald's, triggering Bender to notice his 'red hot glowing ass.'  At which point, apparantly in great discomfort, Bender screams 'owowowowowowowow' and jumps into the ocean to cool his ass.

What, pray tell, gives?

I just thought that this could be fun.

EDIT:  This isn't about the stuff that's not supposed to make sense, like how bender can get all that stuff in his cavity or anything like that, but you get the idea.

That ep is actually called 'When Aliens Attack' :p Sorry, we ARE nitpicking after all and this kind of thing has been done before.

Bender constantly defies continuity. That's what makes him such a cool character. He's a Swiss army knife genetically spliced with a lucky dip.

Bender's a robot, which means he can get away with anything...

There can be any number of reasons for the apparant descrepancy between When Aliens Attack and Route of All Evil. For one, perhaps Bender's design is more suseptible to internal heat sources than to external (after all, he did dive into the earth's core in Jurassic Bark, which is MUCH hotter than any other heat source he had faced, and survived). Or, if you don't like that, Bender's entire bottom half was replaced in Hell is Other Robots, perhaps the new body parts have better heat tolerances (new materials, better cooling of electronics, what have you). In closing, there are few things in Futurama you can't explain if you put your mind to it.

Also, isn't there an entire forum devoted to this kind of question?

im inclined to agree perhaps, as myself i remember benders burgers and his ass got very hot...found himself running into the ocean from lack of tolerancy toward the heat.

Because we don't have an entire forum dedicated to this...
