This poll isn't about which you like best, but what you think Matt Groening prefers out of all his projects. Is he in love with "The Simpsons", our own "Futurama", or the comic that got him started, "Life in Hell"? Maybe it's none of them, and whatever he's working on now happens to be the main focus of his attention. I'm not sure I can vote in this poll myself yet, which is why I think it's interesting: None of us know for sure.

As always, I searched before I posted.     ;)

I voted Futurama, not because of my personal love for the series, but because of the DVD. He said that he'd been doodling up spaceships on noteblocks all the way through school (or something like that) and that this was a dream come true: Now he could do it professionally...
But I am 100% NOT sure of this.

Life in Hell is his favorite.

The others are group efforts.  Life in Hell is all his.

I'm pretty sure he's actually said Life in Hell.  Its very dear to him because its his first ever project and, as David A. said, something he did on his own instead of as a group effort.  Its definetely the most pure "Groening" of all his creations.

Then why is it tied with Futurama in the poll?

I have never seen Life in Hell, nor have I seen many Groening interwievs (once again, I choose to blame geography) so I have no clue.

Does anybody know what this phantom new project actually is?  For that matter, is there a new project?

Yeah, but at the time of my post, three people had written Life in Hell while I was the only one to write Futurama. There were two (2) votes on each. Do teh math.

I think he likes Life in Hell best cause he like always makes obscure referances to it in his work.(Like the rabbits and stuff)

As much as I love Futurama, I have to agree. "Life In Hell" is probably Matt's favorite, and a good reason why we'll never see it in animated form on the FOX Network.

Hey i got this from a website, not much, but sumthing:

Matt Groening is planning to build a park like Disney World. The theme? Maybe “Futurama”, it depends if this series will be as successful as “The Simpsons”.

That's bull. If he's going to do anything I imagine he will worry about getting a Futurama movie out, though I doubt he will.

If you want my honest opinion, I think Matt is done with Futurama, forever.

He said that back before Futurama started.  The theme park idea was based on the assumption that Futurama would become as popular as The Simpsons.  Clearly, that didn't happen.

Matt Groening said in an interview:
"I've gotten less interested in fantasy as I've got older.I'm more interested in human emotions and the ways people behave now. Futurama has so much fantasy in it that it's of little interest to me personally."

No wonder Futurama is dead, apparently even it's creator has turned his back on it. Le sigh.

True he said that, but this was back in May 2001. In later interviews (and the commentaries) he still seems very attached to Futurama. Plus Futurama have a good deal of human emotions and interaction as well, just the setting is a bit more fantastical than average.

Yeah, season 2-4 sucked, not like the classics of season 1.  :p

Actually, I disagree. Season 3 is my favorite with some of the best episodes of the entire run (Roswell, Godfellas, ALOHO, etc), and season 4 was very solid too with episodes like "The Sting" and WNFHGB.

Yeah, if anything I still feel that seasons three and four are far better then seasons one and two.  The first two seasons were too-gag centric and very repetitive.

In seasons 3 and 4 the series not only got funnier, but they also became more story-oriented with the characters. You also got more emotionally attached to the characters.

There isn't one really.  People have just assumed there is from interviews and such.  Remember that it took Groening nine years to come out with a second show, people.

He's talked about various ideas he might like to do in the future, but people are making assumptions that there is a new show being worked on right now.  Which I guess there could be (not likely though, yet), but people are making assumptions about something that isn't there.

I have absolutely no idea!  :D I voted the Simpsons, though. I would think he might like the one that brought him the most recognition, though Futurama is SOOO much better. *dodges flying objects from Simpsons fans*

I went for Futurama but I'm pretty sure it would be Life in Hell just for the fact that its all him and has no outside influence.
