What would come next?

If they made new episodes for season 6, what would you expect.  I would expect Leela and Fry married.  That's all I could think of.  But what storyline/plots or storyline/plot changes would you expect?  I think a great episode would be Fry and Leela getting married, and Bender, winning a contest or stuff making him famous, and Fry, having links to Bender becomes famous, getting chicks, and cheating on Leela, and then Leela divorcing Fry. That would be a cool episode, and it would set things back to normal.  So what do you guys think would happen in new episodes?

Leela and Fry getting married as a permanent thing would definitely be a bad idea, but marriage, even in the way you suggested, i.e. a one episode story ending in divorce, still wouldn't work IMO. It would be a big letdown to have Fry finally win Leela's heart (which it looks like he did at the end of Devil's Hands) and then wreck everything like an immature moron by cheating on her.

Fry may be stupid, but he's not the sort of person who'd cheat on someone - especially not Leela. Besides, Fry and Leela already got married in Time Keeps On Slipping anyway.

and it doesn't set things back to normal to have him cheat on her and them getting divorced. It completely undermines his love for her as well as ruins all of her trust for him and would ultimately destroy their friendship.

Okay, the first new episode would open with Fry and Leela in the park enjoying their first real date.  They are about to kiss...

Fry denies having the clover.  The girl fires the gun.  Fry falls down.

Leela rushes to Fry's aid, only to discover a suction cup tipped dart stuck to Fry's forehead.  Apparently, the gun was just a toy.

Leela turns around to scold the little girl, but she isn't there.  The girl has mysteriously disappeared.

When Fry and Leela return to the Planet Express building, the strange little girl is there.  The other employees all act as if the girl's presence there is completely normal.  The professor says that the girl is Fry's cousin Leelee.

Fry says that he doesn't have a cousin Leelee.  Bender laughs at Fry for being so stupid that he forgot his own cousin.  Bender pulls out a photo album and shows it to Fry.  There are many pictures of Fry and Leelee together.

Fry and Leela are confused by all of this, but everyone else continues to act as if Leelee had always been there.  Leelee keeps asking Fry to give her the seven-leaf clover.

And then things start to really get interesting...

This is oh-so-closely related to Hil's "Afterwards" thread, (but maybe legally distinct from it).
My opinion includes what zoidyzoid and, Beamer and Venus just said. And someone said in the other thread that they (Leela and Fry) could start out slowly dating and such and then take it from there. But pokey's basic idea is not bad. Just make Fry resist the temptation of scoring with the groupies. But leave some close calls.
What would make Bender famous? More than winning a contest I hope, because we've sort of seen that in "Bend Her".

Yes, but those were not by winning a contest. As far as I remember that only happened in Bend Her.

Fry wakes up and discovers TDHAIP was a dream. Cue a critically acclaimed trilogy of three-hour movies, which are dragged out to a ludicrous extent until Fry and Leela get together in the last 5 minutes of the final film.

It's very simple. Just go here and check out the episode guide. The ones marked "S01, S02, S03, S04, S05" are the order they were AIRED (so they did technically air 5 seasons), while the ones marked "1ACV, 2ACV, 3ACV, 4ACV" are the 4 seasons in the order they were MADE - the way the show was intended to be viewed.

At this board, we like to go by seasons in the order they were made, as going by the broadcasted seasons is almost like acknowledging that Fox did something right. If you do have to talk about the broadcasted seasons, though - use the term "McSeason."

Well I think the end of The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings was made with the idea that there wouldn't be a season 6 because it didn't really finish with anything in particular about Leela and Fry, he just showed them together on the Holophoner and for all you know Leela could have gone and kicked his face in!! Though I don't think that would be it somehow! It would probably have probably have them going out, but marraige wouldn't happen, unless it was right at the end of the season and would definately be the last episode ever.

I think that the next series, maybe Dr. Zoidberg would find a mate, And amy looses a bunch of money, and shes not poor, but regular. And Fry eventually learns the holophoner, but can only express his feelings to leela with the holphoner (as usual), And, Proff. Farnsworth well he wont die, lol. Scruffy....ya. Aaaaaaand, Hermes is the same, and nibbler is older. Most important part is with leela n fry. I dont know,

Please tell me you're joking or being sarcastic.  The petition got 130,000 signatures, and a printed copy was delivered by hand to FOX.  It's currently lining Gail Berman's cat's litter box.

This idea's funny because it incorporates violence.    It's a shame that FOX is so blind to what the fans want. Honestly, it's not like giving Futurama half an hour a week is going to hurt them much.

Not always. I signed once signed a petition to stop a movie from airing in North America. It took only 500 signatures!

What's your point?

Futurama was put out of production in February 2002.

An online petition was started to get production started again.

130,000 people signed the petition.

A printout of all 130,000 signatures was handed over to FOX about a year ago.

FOX cancelled Futurama on May 15th, 2003. 

This leads me to believe that FOX ignored the petition.

Haha you have FOX! Going slightly off-topic there but hey, I mean you have to admit cancelling it is better than showing re-runs forever! After a while youd get sick of it, maybe it's best that it went when everyone loved it, and they didn't make anymore because it would have got crap!

firstly if they made a new season i think that fry and leela shouldnt be together and that he should try and win her over. I think the only reason the devils hands are idle play things ended liek that is because they thought that would be the last episode.
Also as it there has been a gap alot should have happened to the characters and it starts with them all meeting up again. All of them losing their fortunes etc. i.e bender losing his fame.

Hmmm, there are allready at least three B-lines of Futurama which should be devoloped.
-Fry (,Leela?) and Nibbleonians.
-Leela and her parents.I now that many of you hate them but they would be probably much more lovable characters if they were in more episodes.
-Amy/Kif relationship. I hate myself for saying that but it has some potention and as I said once before they are secondary characters so some change would be better than in Fry/Leela thing.
So actually no now plots but making more stuff from older ones.

I started a petition a couple days ago... unfortunately everyone (including myself) is pretty pessimistic about it.  its only got 7 signatures.  but still, if fox sees that theres still a lot of support after almost 2 years, who knows? it probably wont work but sign it anyway: http://www.petitiononline.com/futrma01

weren't you paying attention? there was a petition right after it became apparent that fox was trying to end it, the petition got 130,000 signatures and was hand delivered to FOX. they ignored it completely. I'd say that's a pretty good reason to be pessimistic.
