And the rain would be tiny droplets of pure gold, Milk would cost two bits, The trains would run on time, and all the idiots that actualy think that worthless plant is the second coming of jesus or some damn thing would be right as opposed to the real world where they are wrong.

Wrong,wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong

Of course maby it was legal and they just smoke too much pot to remember that.

Well that doesn't mean that it was legal, it means they were there trying to GET it legalised....I know what I mean.... :p

I didn't actually stop, consider, and realize what kind of drug addict Hermes really is.  That alone make Hermes a better character.  I guess I wasn't thinking about drugs when I was doing drugs to notice the drugs.

good point.
I actually never thought of it that way.
It gives Hermes a more 3 demiensional look.

No it doesn't. It's just a mindless one dimensional steryotypical joke. And a lame one at that.

Hey, if you think that smoking pot makes Hermes a better, more three-dimensional character, then you really should go and watch some Cheech and Chong movies.  I'm sure that you'll love all of the sophisticated humor.

You should watch "Saving Grace" sophisticated pot humour right there!

Also you should read "the emperor wears no clothes" By Jack Herer
Fantastic.

and Mazaite, what position are you in to call this wonderful plant worthless?
What are you, gay?

Dude, chill, have a toke.

And, futuramamama, good Bill Hicks cite.  One of the greatest comedians no one has heard of.

I'd say it looks more like a weed leaf than any other kinda leaf (even though weed leaves have 7 leaves on it, not 5)

Gay people can't get high? That's about it's only non-equatable value as a plant. Everything else it does can be done by other things as well or better.

I didn't get the quote (and the DVDs are elsewhere right now) but on the commentary for "The Sting", when Hermes goes up to Fry's coffin there's "a ganja joke there".

Because they say so in the commentaries!

I saw a very respectable family the other day, where the children where wearing Tokemon t-shirt - Gotta smoke 'em all.
I wondered if I should tell them they got the wrong shirts, but it was too funny to ruin. Maybe it's a joke, that Mrs Wong don't know what kinda leaf it is, she just liked the hat.

What's the song that's played after the 30% Iron chef?
It's probably Led Zeppelin or something. When Bender asks if anyone want a meal cooked with plenty of "confidence".

Nah man, it's Cream's classic "Sunshine of Your Love", performed by Futurama composer Christopher Tyng.

EDIT: Oh, and -

Ah, right.  It was indeed "Sunshine of Your Love" by Cream.

Thanks, Sammy.  I haven't seen that one in a while, and my memory isn't what it used to be.

Drugs are great, I watched the Futurama Season four DVD two times just after New Years, and now I can't remember any of it. So I got a whole new season to look forward to. I recommend it to all of you!

Been using yourself? Did you forget the "Dudes for the legalizatin of Hemp" from "A Head In The Poles" (2ACV03)? That was mentioned earlyer in this thread.

Maybe it's legal in some states/countries/star systems and not others, wherever the Olympics are held (Did they ever identify where this was?) being one of the places where it isn't.

Still, the most likely explanation seems to be that pot is still illegal, yet crack is legal, or at least not cracked down on all that heavily (pun intended).

Eh, i'm aware i'm ressurecting this 4 y.o. tread, but i just can't help asking - there are a couple of Hermes lines, widely considered to be rastafarian/pot-related, but i can't get'em due to my poor knowledge of English AND Rastafarian:
1. Now I got to go home and relax the traditional Jamacian way, a glass of warm milk and a good night sleep (HHRHGB)
2. Poor Fry, he's got the munchies for freedom. (IITM)
What's the drug reference about these? Pleease?

1. Does not appear to be a reference, might just be a joke because it's not an especially Jamacian behavior.

2. "Munchies" refer to an increased appetite caused by smoking pot. Has become a mainstream term of snacking.

Fry once said on that episode "The Farnsworth Parabox" he saw a movie when he was on a drug trip.

thanx futz!
I've been puzzled so much by this milk, and it appeared to be just a joke  :)(here they boil a low-quality hemp in milk for a while which makes some dark green liquid, called milk too, which can make you very high, so I thought maybe they have something like that in Jamaica)
On another subject - does anyone know if John DiMaggio is a MaryJane admirer? In audiocomments he often sounds like the one  :).

This might seem an obscure reference. But The whole experience of bender recieving his upgrade in 'obsoletely fabulous' was a decidely psychedelic drug trip type scenario, particularly at the end when he says, but if that wasn't real, how do I know anything is real? !!!!

Drug references?  How about this one...

In the episode where Earth President Nixon's head gives everyone 300 earth dollars as a rebate (can't remember the episode title; I'm quoting from memory here).  You see a crack addict walking out of an alley toward a mansion that has a butler out front & a sign carved in expensive marble that says "Crack House".  He hands his 300 bucks to the butler (at this point, he's tweaking like crazy) who says "would Sir like his crack pipe warmed up for him?"

I've heard relaxing the Jamiacan way as a pot euphemism, so I wouldn't rule this one out.
