If only Futurama was on Channel Ten, maybe it'd get the recognition it deserves.

yeah that's wierd simpsons are on channel ten and futurama is on 7. Also if the try putting futurama and at like 7:30, or prime time, i think it would generate a great response. Instead of shuving it in anywhere.

There's not enough Futurama episodes to put on as regular a rotation as The Simpsons is at 6, despite how repetitive that seems to get. Once a week, on wednesday after the newish episodes of The Simpsons for example, would suit the show fine.

Well, it seems that Channel 7 is treating Futurama like FOX. I haven't seen an epsiode in almost month (not only do i keep forgetting it's on, but when i DO remember, Dark Angel is on...).

Anyway, as far as the DVDs are concerned, I ordered both the Season One and Season Two box sets from www.amazon.co.uk  when they were released there, which is what I would recommend. Not only are discs dual-regioned: 2 (Europe) and 4 (Australia), but the packaging is better as well: in the UK-sold version the packaging has an extra plastic sleeve, which is removed to view more artwork (whereas in the Australian-released version, the sleeve artwork is printed directly onto the box, hiding the extra art). And you simply get the DVDs sooner. Also, in my experience, ordering it from the UK works out to cost about the same as buying it in local stores. As far as availability is concerned within Australia, I have seen it available in HMV stores around the place. One store had upwards of five copies sitting on the shelf.

Back to television treatment, i think that should Channel 10 have bought Futurama, it would have performed admirably well. In fact, the ratings for Futurama were very respectable on Channel 7: until 10 put episodes of the Simpsons in the same timeslot. If 10 had indeed bought it, Futurama would probably have gotten a timeslot right after The Simpsons, and would therefore have had exceptional ratings and also would have been shown regularly every year.

Well that's my two cents on the subject.

Oops! Good point, Bad Mojo... thanks for that little correction....

I agree, but when Futurama was showing on Fridays, it wasn't put against new episodes of the Simpsons, they were still reruns. The new episodes were on Wednesdays.

Bad News..

Futurama is once again not going to be shown, instead in its place will be the "Australian Open". The nerve of them! Who would stay up that late to watch Tennis anyway?

The same sport-obsessed wankers that are so prevalent in the greater community. I mean, it's tennis for god's sake, something that may be fun to do for a while on a lazy weekend, but nothing more. I hardly think it's worth telecasting.

I'll just have to be content to watch some more season 2 commentaries on my shiny new DVDs...  :p
