Just like to say that I found my co-workers to be Futurama fans. I have a shift where about 10 or so students work on this one computer checking e-mail, surfing the web etc. There has always been kind of a desktop war going on. It was constantly changeing from kittens to cars to powerpuff girls to Xenomorphs (my addition). Two weeks ago I saw someone put up a bender wallpaper. Nothing too good just a tiled bender with a red background.

I decided to find a much better wallpaper and found this amazing Hi-rez screenshot (?) of Bender in his chef's hat. It has now been on the desktop for almost 2 weeks a new record.

I have one friend who likes it a bit to much, but he doesn't like internet message boards. Everytime you talk to him he replies with a Futurama quote.

Me: Hey wanna go see the new Matrix movie?

Friend: Hooray I'm going to see a movie with friends!

With the unforgiveably horrendous treatment of Futurama by the Visionaries at Fox , it's a wonder that anyone knows about the show.  Not a soul I worked with had ever heard of it until one of the other engineers ran across it on Cartoon Network.  Being a man of great intelligence and good taste, he immediately became a fan.

Even so, I was still the only one with a Futurama calendar on display instead of the one the company provided (a very bland opus emblazoned with the name of a local insurance company).  For some reason, whenever important clients toured the place, they seldom (if ever) were allowed near my area.  Of course, everyone always seemed to have the opinion that I was about a bubble and a half off plumb anyway!

I have my Futurama calender hung on the wall and a Futurama background on my computer at work.  I only work with three other people, so there's not that many people to evangalize about Futurama to.  Infidels!

I bought a Futurama cell phone ring--so even though no one at work knows the show--they surely know the theme song!!!

A few of my friends at school watch it ocassionally, but I only really know one person who could be called a fan of the show. I'm really the only person out of my group of friends who's OBSESSED with Futurama.

Also, Newhook_1 - you should challenge your friend who "always" replies with Futurama quotes... Like, keep trying to think up sentences that couldn't possibly be replied to with anything from the show. That should piss him off.  :p

I can relate. My friend never shuts up about it. I'm kinda surprised that he hasn't said anything about it in public out loud. I can see it now...

My friend is walking around in public when someone runs into him on accident.

Person: Excuse me, Sir.
Friend: Have you ever seen Futurama? Well, if you haven't let me tell you about it... ( A few hours later) And that's all the lines from all the episodes in season one... (Starts talking about Futurama again)

The person gives a strange look to my friend who doesn't notice and runs off screaming.

Friend: (Running after him) Wait! I haven't told you about season two  yet!

I was once in a management meeting discussing  acceptable level of support, tolerances and when during a system outage we should "push the alarm button".  I quipped in with, "it's a beige alert.".

The only one I'm proud of.

My school is a mixed bag. Some kids know and love the show (one kid in the library a few months ago mentioned that he had caught 1ACV01 "Space Pilot 3000" on Cartoon Network the previous night and was all excited about it), some kids know and despise the show (a kid in my algebra class hates it and says "The Simpsons" has always been ten times funnier), and some kids never knew it existed (which is a real pain in the ass to explain to them that the series ended three months ago.) I, however, like it so much that I greet all my friends with an exuberant "What up?" and fill my notebooks not just with notes but of doodles pertaining to the notes (when discussing literary forms of evil in English class, I added a picture of Leela bashing Beelzebot over the head with the golden fiddle).

Its always the ones that laugh at toilet humour that hate the show. So to them, I say...

'What up?'

Since I bought the DVDs, everyone that enters my dorm room has to watch at least one episode.  They usually end up liking it and asking to watch more. Most of my buds from home like it, so it's all good.

Toilet humour CAN be very funny.. just look at Terrence and Philip. "Hey Philip!" "What, Terrence?" "Guess what" "What?" *FART!"... Golden.
Now back to the topic at hand: I work at an airport catering firm. We have to load stuff into drawers, then load the drawers into trolleys or aluminum boxes. Every once in a while, we get an alubox that is quite unusual. One special box has "FUTURA" imprinted on it an large-fonted caps, so what do I do? I complete the word and smear the box with adverts and slogans such as "not a substitute for human interaction" "Thompson's Teeth- The only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth" "Arachnospores- The deadly spores with the funny name" and "Slurm! It's highly addictive"
YAY!! And now that box is travelling the entire globe, returning to us a couple of times a week.

Suggest to him that his next obsession should be Huckleberry Hound or He-Man... give him a little bit of a challenge...
