When Fry didn't fall into the freezer and that hole suddenly appeared with Leela and the gang, how did it destroy the universe?

It was a nonsensical story, Kurt. Didn't you hear the Professor?  ;)

It's a paradox induced space-time rapture. Fry was destined to go into the future, when he didn't something he would've done (maybe related to the brains) went undone, and resulted in the spce-time rip, which in the end destroyed the universe.

Ofcourse if you adjust the dipolarfield matrix of free-spinning tachyons by 3.76 degress and reallign the background radiation to 0.00645 nano-hertz it could all have been avoided.

I think it's because he's his own grandfather. Since he didn't go to the future, he couldn't go back to the fifties and father his father, creating a paradox.

what makes less sense is the fact that
bender, leela, zoidberg and the professor are standing together

Since he didn't walk into that freezer doodle, he couldn't have asked the what if machine his question, hence he couldn't see himself not walking into the freezer which destroyed the universe.
Yes, that sequence of words I just said made perfect sense.

(funnily enough, Fry and the "nerds" don't seem to be part of the universe since they don't get destroyed  :D )

The most ludicrous part of it was definitely Stephen Hawking in a pizzeria.  :D

I actually didn't notice that the first time I saw this ep, I think I read about it on PEEL somewhere....Zoidberg alrady knew the professor, but Bender and Leela only met because of Fry....

What really freaked me out in this episode is the Zoidberg could defeat Bender.

I mean come on

Ludicrous but funny!!
Also, I have to agree with the others- it doesn't make sense, Bender Leela and the professor standing together...it it wasn't for Fry, they'd never have met anyway...

Mabye Leela had to give someone else a job that day but he got away and ran to a suicide booth to escape. There Leela met Bender who made bad remarks about her so she kicked him in the head. He found respect for her because she whooped his ass so he follows her around. After they search for the guy for a while bender gets thirsty so he breaks into a shop to steal some booze. He actually breaks into planet express. Leela tries to stop him but she gets dragged along. They bang into the proffesor who is crazy so he thinks they are the new starship crew he ordered. Leela and Bander accept and they become new Planet Express Delivery people.

But then of couse the universe would still collapse......

Well im out of ideas.

or maybe the What If machine was completely inaccurate about the question so it didn't make sense.
I don't even make sense either.

   :D

Actually... that's the point. If Fry hadn't gone into the future, Bender would be a dead robot, Leela would still be a Fate Assignment Officer, the professor would never exist (because Fry didn't become his own grandfather, and therefore grandfather of Yancy Fry, and therefore great grandfather of Phillip Fry the second), and without the Professor, Zoidberg wouldn't have a job.

It all makes perfect sense now!
