You forgot to add 'That's Lobstertainment'. Nothing could save that turkey of an episode. Only 1 joke - and of course it was Leela's (I always knew that I'd die in the bottom of a pit, but a pit of tar?').

Aw, man, I really liked "How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back." I guess it might be concidered a little dry, but I thought all the beurocrat jokes were hilarious. Sortof like the "neutral" jokes from "Brannigan, Begin again" which some people don't seem to get either. ("All I know is my gut says maybe." )
And since my last post on this thread I watched "The Honking" again and it wasn't as funny as I remembered, though Fry being jealous that Bender tried to kill Leela was amusing. Seems ridiculous to say this about a show like Futurama, but somehow the episode seemed nonsensical even by futuama's standards. Don't get me wrong, Calculon's claim that he was "All of history's greatest acting robots" including David Duchovney was funny, but it's a bit bizarre to reveal him to be over 1,000 years old, and a Were-Car to boot.

I have only just started reading this site after a break of 12 months and I see in the news area the following quote
Futurama was cancelled because there was nobody at Fox at the time who cared enough about it to give it the proper time slot.
Well really it was cancelled becuase people were not watching it because the ratio of good eps to bad eps was not high enough. Sure even the worst eps had a few gags that were gold, but too many eps had only the one. Over the last 2 weeks I sat down and re watched all the DVD's one after the otherand was actually a bit disappointed with quite a few eps. Kiff gets knocked up a notch was just plain excremental, closely followed by any ep heavy with the Leela and Fry love thing. If they want to bring it back they need to fire David Cohen or at least ban him from the writing room (most of his Simpsons blow as well), de-nerd the show a tad and drop the whole Fry and Leela thing. Don't get me wrong, I like the show and I do not regret buying all of the DVD's, but as a series it has some flaws in the writing that made it less than it should have been.

I agree that dropping Fry and Leela in love would be a major improvement! I hated those eps, she doesnt love u Fry, get over it. But to fire David Cohen would be terrible! Without him the show would become a Family Guy or... *shudder* new simpsons. Although, the Why of Fry sucked. least favourites Cryonic Woman Devils hands are idle playthings Spanish Fry (start was alright) 300 big boys Obsoletely fabulous Leela of her own Leela's homeworld Kif gets knocked up a knotch!!! (btw, all the deleted scenes were best bit of this ep) Favourites pretty much all of season 1 and 2 and a bit of 3

Gee, maybe they should just eliminate that whole “science fiction” angle, too. Tell me, why are you even bothering to watch Futurama? It seems you dislike everything that makes it, well, Futurama. I think you’re confused. You probably want the " Tripping the Rift" forums down the hall. Or some other gutless, shallow, by-the-numbers sitcom that never challenges its viewers or transcends its genre.

Worst episode? I must say Raging Bender. Just didn't do it for me. And it was really too cliche and standard.
Also I must respectfully disagree with the guy, and anyone else, who holds the view that the Leela and Fry thing should be dropped.
In my opinion, that is just one of the things that makes Futurama great. What I love about Futurama isn't just it's hilarity, but that the characters have *depth*, and I actually find myself caring about them. The show isn't afraid to have genuine sad and depressing moments either, and is quite good at having those without failing miserably and just ending up with something so cheesy it makes me cringe.
If I wanted a show that was just straight comedy with shallow characters I didn't really care about, I'd watch Family Guy. It's a hilarious show, it truly is. I rarely see an episode I don't laugh at...yet it pales in comparison to Futurama, because I really don't care about any of the characters on Family Guy. The entire world of FG just seems alot more flat and static than Futurama.
And one of the main reasons? It all comes back to the Leela and Fry thing. It's a romance handled excellently, very rarely becoming cliche and corny, and actually making you *feel* for Fry; that he tries so hard for Leela, yet is again and again knocked back to square one, but for those few fleeting moments where they actually get something going, some romance. And I *don't* (necessarily) mean sex.
And despite this, and this is also what sets it apart from other shows, it can have this depth and romance, and *still* be a hilarious show. Most shows can only manage one or the other, they are a show with depth and romance but incredibly lame attempts at 'humor', or a show like Family Guy, which is hilarious but has very shallow characters and lame attempts at actual depth.
That is what makes Futurama great and what would make removing the Fry and Leela romance a bad idea.
