I just want to say that Mars U is an awesome episode but i totally agree with the remark bout gunter, he was the lamest futurama character ever. but how could you hate the episode that brought us such sayings as "now lets all go on a road trip to get fatbot some action" and the classic "cheese it"

Why do fans consider Futurama to have bad episodes?  When it comes episodes, I like them all, I just like some episodes more than others.

I dont like the last episode  that was produced.. not in a " i dont like the actual story or characters" but more like a " what?! no more left?!" type of way.

I think the worst episodes are either "Leela of Her Own" or "Thats Lobstertainment".

Both had really stupid plots and neither we funny save for a few little jokes.

At the moment, I'd have to say "A Pharaoh to Remember."  I'll admit I haven't seen the whole thing, but I subtract points for:

1. No really memorable jokes or quotes.

2. Bender being too sentimental - that only works towards the end of an episode where his tough exterior is cracked by some great event, if that makes any sense.  To have him be so mopey from the beginning just isn't believable to me.

3. Cheap, generalized cracks about religious people.

To me, there really are any bad episodes of Futurama, though there are eps. that were too weird ("Insane in the Mainframe" ), a little too jokey and not enough emotion and character, a bit too heavy on emotion and not humorous enough.

My least favorite Futurama ep. is prob'ly "Futurestock", since despite having almost every great character (Zapp and Kif, Morbo, Calculon, Elzar, Mom and her sons, Hettie), there aren't many laughs (except for Hettie, Zoidberg, the PlanEx commercial and Leela and Bender's reactions), and the boneitus scene was really disturbing and disgusting.

I find IsitMf too weird to be enjoyable. Fry going crazy was disturbing and not funny to me. I almost felt like I was going crazy along with Fry.

I don't like TKOS, but I find it much better than Fs or IsitMf. Before the time skips happened I thought this was going to be the worst Futurama ep. with Fry, Leela and Bender playing second fiddle to the Professy and his unappealing atomic supermen. They had the nerve to kille Arachneon, the only superman I liked.

Because we're being realistic, and honest. Each to his or her own, obviously, but I find it hard to believe that many fans could not be incredibly disappointed with some of the more rubbishy season 4 episodes. A couple of them were, in my opinion, poor even by general TV standards, and seemed even worse because I had such high expectations of any Futurama episode.

Hmph, it's funny, I can't believe I haven't posted in this thread yet...

Anyways, eps that I've got weird issues with...

Leela of her Own: While there exists the possibility that there were many jokes in this that I just didn't get, it's seriously lacks humour. Two great bits ("I win" and "hit ball here to win the game" followed by blimp exploding) and a few decent lines scattered sporadically about do not make up for it.    :( One more notch of annoyance for Teral!

300 Big Boys: Dull and dumb. I'm sad to say I got most of the jokes in this one, so it's doesn't have an excuse (unless there were a myriad of uber-subtle ones I missed...) once again, a few good lines (and a particular character... guess which one?    ;) ) make it in there, but not enough to make it a truely enjoyable 22 mins of television. Oh, it had  a groovy ending too, but I don't need to tell you that.    ;)

Where the Buggalo Roam:Despite having many good elements, it just didn't fit together as well as I'd hoped. Only ep where I didn't find zoidy hilarious.    :hmpf: Once again, a few good lines

An ep I'm still not decided about: Leela's Homeworld: Seriously, the least funny episode ever. I just need to decide whether this was a mistake or whether it was written this way in order to give prevelance to the plot, which I liked...

Eps that make me sad when they appear on this thread:
Less Than Hero
Any season 1 or 2 ep besides the Cryonic Woman... (I like it, but there's enough hate for it floating around that I must clearly have some sort of suckfulness blind spot).
The Why of Fry
Jurassic Bark
Roswell that Ends Well
Luck of the Fryrish (sorry Coils)    ;)
er... a few others, can't remember.

I'll get flamed for this, but I was incredibly disappointed in "The Why of Fry". While I do do Nibbler saying, "I period C period Wiener" very often, this was pretty much the only memorable line. It was dull, and too Fry-centric.

SlackjawedMoron: I LOVED 300 big boys! Especially when Fry achieves nirvana at coffe #100. ;-)

Isn't it weird how different our opinions are. For me the least enjoyable ep is TL followed by CW. But I still watch them and like them. Also i thought that the show went from strength to strength and seasons 3 and 4 were my favourite.

I'm not trying to say everyone should feel the same, i just find it hard to understand other people's points of view- a major human failing really isnt it.

I liked 300 Big Boys because it followed so many stories. Same with A Flight to Remember. Any time an episode can cram that many stories into an episode, and still have it makes sense interests me.

Any episode with too much shippiness gives me gonorrhea(like the last episode). I remember seeing Fry begging Leela to go out with him in the Farnsworth Parabox, and I just wanted to vomit(though the rest of the episode was good). Leela's Homeworld was pretty asstastic too. It was written like a cheap fan fiction. Overly dramatic, and downright fuckful. Smite the daughter of VP Gore.

I usually enjoy a multi-faceted plot as well, but in 300 Big Boys I didn't feel that any of the stories were used to their fullest.  A rather mediocre episode, in my opinion.

"The Honking" was a good story, but slightly thin on the ground in terms of gags. I enjoyed it though.

Worst episode for me was Spanish Fry which was a poorly conceived story combined with Ron Weiner's usual mixture of poor characterisation, dodgy non-sequiters and blatantly obvious gags. The Bender asides brought this episode to the lowest level of the series for a show that can do a lot better.  :nono:

According to Ken Keeler's interview, the writer just writes the initial draft. Then David X. Cohen checks it, and the writers improve the jokes, etc... funny after all the tons of screening and changing, poor episodes can actually be produced (for me its Lesser than two evils).

Spanish Fry was a decidedly sub-par episode, but I did enjoy the series of Bigfoot jokes at the beginning.  Then of course there's Zoidberg's awesome riff:

"Fry, you have no nose!  You nose is gone!  I don't know where it might be, but on your face it is not!"

Or something like that...

Huh... I guess it's kind of funny to accuse an episode about wanting to be remembered of not being memorable. Okay, not that funny, but neither is the episode.

I'm not a fan of Obsoletely Fabulous. I love The Sting in spite of myself, but this one used a very similar twist, two (production) or five (McSeason) episodes later, and I didn't think it was executed nearly as well. Plus, Fry and Leela and the rest of the PE crew spend a good amount of the episode M.I.A. It makes sense with the plot, but it got really tiresome for me. I don't think Bender can support an episode that way.

And I agree with the mob about ALOHO (despite the wonderful "I win" guy and a couple other little gags), TL, and the second half of CW.

"A Leela of Her Own" and "The Why of Fry" tie for the position of the worst episode in my opinion.  ALOHO had several jokes that fell flat and was... well... boring, and "The Why of Fry" was just trying too hard to be funny, and I think it was just irritating in some ways.  I used to dislike "Godfellas," but I think it's kind of touching and has one memorable joke:

Gypsy: "It's your friend, Bonder!"
Fry: "Bonder?  Is that really you?  Wait a minute... Bender's name's not Bonder, it's Bender!"

Personally, I think every episode that centers on one character rather than two or more is usually one that seems to come across as a bad episode.  *shrug* Just my thought.

I might as well add in my thoughts. I have five least favorites.

5. Less Then Hero: It had funny parts, but I thought it was pretty corny.
4. Mars University: Couldn't stand the monkey...
3. A Pharoah To Remember: I like Bender, but he was acting really weird and annoying in this one.
2. A Leela of Her Own: Nothing really that funny at all.
1. The Honking: Same as above.
