Dr. Zoidberg vs Hermes

If you pay attention to Futurama at all, you`d pick up Dr. Zoidberg and Hermes`s ongoing feud. Mostly Hermes putting down Dr. Zoidberg. Anyway, recently I was thinking about why or when it started.

I`ve also been brushing up on all the season one episodes lately, because although I had them almost memorized over the summer, I`ve been recently forgetting deatils. I came across this scene before the real conflict between the two.....

(Dr. Zoidberg passes around food)
Hermes: These are mighty tasty!
Dr. Zoidberg: Thank you, I made them myself.
(Hermes retches)

Now, since when does Hermes take food from Zoidberg?  But he must of already thought he was strange because he rejected it.

I don`t know. Whatever.

Actually, I never really noticed a fued until you mentioned it... except that one part in "A Clone of My Own" when they were talking about who Farnsworth's heir would be.

"Up yours, Zoidberg!  Up wherever your species traditionally crams things!"  Funny quote.

Since when does anyone take food from Zoidberg?  Hmmm...

That's really interesting, Marissa! I knew that Zoidberg was always getting blamed for things, but failed to realize that it was always Hermes that yells at him. Perhaps I should make a list about it at CGEF? Thanks for bringing that to my attention

As a big fan of Dr. Zoidberg I am, I must say that this message has opened my eyes. I would hate Hermes if it weren't because of that cool song me made on "How hermes...". But think about it. Jewish people were discriminated all along the history, and it looks like in Y3K these things sill happen.

But they have seemed to get along before in "How Hermes reqisitioned his groove back". When he handed over for the other crew members to join in the song, he went to Ziodberg first, tho it was probably just a way to make it rhyme easier 

But then Ziodberg did eat all of Hermes' bait in "The Deep South". Dunno if that was on purpose or if Ziodberg is just plain greedy. Tho if they don't get along (like everyone is thinking) then why did Hermes even let him near his bait?

I dunno about hermes hating Zoidberg specifically, he seems to chew everyone out at some time or another. He picks on Bender-mon more than he picks on Zoidberg, surely?

Zoidberg is becoming my favorite character ... but it's not only Hermes who's yelling at him - it's everybody! He's the definite looser in the show and there are tons of small gags to prove this (for exyample during the popplersong: "I can't pay ..."). I think the reason why Hermes and Zoidberg argue that much is because they are both secondary characters and usually don't get the A-plot. So it's a good way to "involve" them in the show - arguing for no reason (Zoidberg looses). The Doctor reminds me of Homer: he has no knowledge of his profession and is always blamed for everything (D'OH!). And if he wins he's very enthusiastic (Yahooo!).

You missed the joke, what Zoidberg meant was he grew those lobster claws himself cos when a lobster gets a leg cut off they grow back.

I think your kind wrong about it being Hermes vs. Zoidberg, becase Zoidberg never actually picks on Hermes, Hermes is always just picking on Zoidberg. And I think the reason he got a present from Santa, was because he is always picked on and never does anything wrong and Santa felt sorry for him.

Ooh! wouldn't it be cool if in a later episode Zoidberg gets fed up with taking shit from people and quits/beats the shit out of everyone!? hahaha

By the way what age is Zoidberg?
Bender says his the professors oldest friend so he must be fairly old and Zoidberg knows the smell of anchovies which have been extinct for 800 years so is over 800 years old?

Notice that Zoidberg never actually said that he smelled anchovies. He just said "That stench... that heavenly stench..." Maybe he was attracted to the scent without realizing what it was?

Fry had Zoidberg in the position of submition but Fry foolishly decided not to finish him off.
If Fry can beat Zoidbeg then surely he isnt very good.
