Is that correctly understood?
That is it exactly. And then winner moves on to play the winner of the next pair. In other words, 1 vs. 16 plays winner of 8 vs. 9. which then plays the winner of the 5 vs. 12 and 4 vs. 13 match, and so on. Also, to clarify, The semifinals are Earthican v. Neptune and Omicronian v. Martian.
And I agree with you on "A Leela of Her Own." It isn't a great episode, but I can think of worse. Half the fun of this is that we will see if an episode with a low CGEF rating can move on.
A agree that the the number 1 seeds are pretty protected, but that is the privlidege of number 1. I would note that there is a good chance that "Parasites Lost" will face "Jurasic Bark" in the second round. That could be very interesting.
Voting will be done here, which unfortunately means a few threads. I simply don't have the knowledge to design something (and Marc said he was too busy). You also get the benefit of limited voting and the self contained discussion.
I didn't really think of this when I started, but it should be interesting to see people justify their voting in one round, and then have to change or re-justify it in the next. Every round should have a few very close votes.
Speaking of which, any idea of what to do in case of a tie? My current leaning is that a tie at midnight of the closing date means a recheck after 24 hours.
Bobby: please read the top of the page post. I hated to do multiple postings, but one giant post with all the brackets would be hard to read. Better, for clarity sake, to break them up. I appreciate the concern though.
I'm looking at a start time in 27:30 hours for the qualifier (midnight PDT (-7GMT) Friday/Saturday). The qualifier will run through next Friday, and we can hopefully fine tune this all from there on.
