have you ever noticed how the futurama characters seem to talk about horrible tragedies like they were nothing, just casual who cares type stuff? you know what i mean. i feel this is wrong, and am quite apalled by it. i mean here is the equivalent of what they say in our terms. FRY: So, what happened to the jews? LEELA: Oh, mass genocide in the early 1940's FARNSWORTH: Oh my yes, and i had experiments with them for forced mating. AMY: Yeah, 6 million sent to their deaths in the gas chambers or horribly experimented on. *Mind you everyone is speaking nochalontly like fry asked what the freaken wheather is like.* FRY (opens slurm, drinks): Oh..... [see getak in the background shaking his head with a single tear welling up in his eye.] seriously, i am not even jewish, and i am quite offended by how they can speak on those terms. now don't get me wrong, i am sure you all found this hilarious, but i really don't have to question why people might not like this aspect of the show. i find it apalling, i am sure somebody out there finds it disagreeable to some lesser degree than i, but still a turn for the worst for how the characters act in the show.

Prepare to be flamed, my friend.
And as per my opinion, it's only accepted because the tragedies haven't (and most likely, won't ) happened, and in most cases, none of Futurama's viewers will be around in the times that the show itself predicts. How many of the world's inhabitants honestly show great quantities of remorse for tragedies in the distant past? Not that many. The show is being real enough to depict what people are actually like while speaking of past events. Take a good look around you and examine society before you go getting this upset about such things.

I'm with 100% Drippy_Taco on this one. I mean, how many people today talk about things like the Crusades and various other massacres (the period of the French revolution, the catholic vs. protestant boodbaths, etc.) with great emotions and sadness? And that wasn't even as long ago for us as the 1940s are for them.

The Non-chalantnesss is supposed to underline the stupidity and Modern casualness of the age. After all, Science fiction is about Commenting on the present and where we are going. We've been over this again and again and Frankly who ever doesnt get it isnt a real futurama fan, or particularly intelligent to miss something thats so subtle and yet so obvious. Its not Completely obvious for you to take it for granted, They make it easy to notice.

that's because in 1000 years I don't think people will care much for the tragedies of today.

I'm not angry about the Romans feeding the Christians to the lions. Does that make me a bad person?

Comedy is tragedy where you don't feel sorry for the victim. Look at Zoidberg.
