Here's the thing...if people have been 'coming to this site for awhile' as all these welcome threads say, shouldn't it be blatantly obvious that welcome threads are not allowed?

I am sorry that being flamed on your new thread was your first interaction with the other members here.  I assure you that it's not how things always go here.

To the mods:
To prevent newcomers from posting welcome threads, why doesn't someone simply add something like "no welcome threads please" to the rules and regulations page, which newcomers must agree to during the registration process?

This is not a bad idea, but did you read the rules and registration page word for word? And if you did, do you think that everyone else did it as well?

I doubt that...
