Anything is possible...

We should get Cartoon Network to produce new Futurama episodes and they can make it a premeir show for them.  Matt Groening and Cartoon Network together should be able to make this happen.

Just because Fox is too conservative and greedy and stupid doesn't mean Futurama has to die, that the world should have to do without it.  We can't afford to lose it. :-)  Its a wonderful thing we can save!

Write letters to Matt and Cartoon Network!!  Tell your friends to!!  Pledge your undying devotion!

I think Cartoon Network should spend money on viable shows like "Samurai Jack". They can't play in the big boy pool of network TV budgets. A CN Futurama would suck because it would have to be so seriously under cut for CN to afford it.

Quality animated shows like Futurama can cost around 1 million dollars per episode to produce. I don't think either Cartoon Network or Comedy Central can afford anything like that. They just don't have the audience (and the subsequent ad revenue) to finance such shows.

Somehow this is possible - I KNOW it.  If not CN or CC then who can do it?  If a million fans donated a dollar each, that's an episode.  I would surely pledge $13 per season to Futurama!

There was an interview with the producer of the adult swim block. he was asked this question and straight out said that CN couldnt afford it and would need a Network sponsor, and also said that prime time animation was going through a rough patch with TV execs.

so in other words, no network backer, no new futurama, end of story.

here's a link to the news of interview, I think its on page 5 as I remember.

As proven by the interview Grim linked to,  CN KNOWS we want our show, they DO care about it, and they're doing all they can to make it happen. 99% it won't happen, though, because they simply do not have enough money. Writing letters won't do squat, because they already know what we want. Unless they find another network who is willing to partner up with them for this show, which is very unlikely, there will be no more Futurama.

TBS is the rerun network, and although they're owned by the abomination that is AOL Time Warner, TBS itself has a very low budget. I doubt they'd invest in a show as expensive as Futurama.
CN is (I believe) owned by Turner. He has quite a heavy wallet too. So what?

Dude. lol    :laff:

AOL TW has a debt equity rating of 0.55, compared to an industry average of 0.33, is growing at half the rate of the industry average, analyst confidence in AOL TW is low, and...

AOL TIME WARNER one-year income: $-44.06 Bil.
Industry Average: $-9 Bil

AOL TW have better things to spend the money on than Futurama.

It's not going to happen.
Ever.
Futurama will never be renewed by another network, because it's too expensive. Simple as that.

MTV? No.

Give it up. Everything that could be done has been done. The naive hope of newbies is a cute sight, but your words are wasted here. We've become bitter husks of human beings who have long since given up hope of finding love seeing new Futurama episodes in this lifetime.

We'll still be here. Futurama comics are still around and fan-created work is still around, including a virtual seasons project I believe you've already been acquainted with. Some will leave, but the real fans aren't going anywhere.
