IGN Film Force is conducting a 5-part interview with CN's senior VP in charge of Adult Swim, Mike Lazzo. So far we're into part 4, which on its own is an interesting read.

This little blurb for part 5 just happened to catch my eye though.

Check back tomorrow for the conclusion of Ken's conversation with Mike Lazzo – in which Lazzo discusses the possibility of new Futurama & Family Guy episodes, new Adult Swim shows, the Samurai Jack feature film, and more.

Newsweek already mentioned Mike wants new Family Guy episodes, but Seth MacFarlane's busy busy schedule seems to be the only factor preventing it for the time being.

Omg! Could it be? Im just...im so conflicted right now. I mean, what if they decide to do knew episodes on CN and dont end Futurama on fox right, Then the idea for CN flops?

This is just a heck of alot of news to take.

It's not a lot of news to take, you're just making it sound like it.

Q: Is there any possibility of new Futurama episodes?
A: No.

There, now you don't have to go to IGN.

You're pretty much correct.  The entire theme of the interview so far has been about how little money they have to do stuff with.  I'm sure they are aware of how many people wish that there could be new episodes, but its obviously enough of a challenge for them to pump out a couple dozen Aqua Teen Aqua Force over the course of a year.

Has it occured to anyone that perhaps they mean that with fox finishing up first airing this season that It will simply be new Repeats to continue on from "Where No Fan..." the last in CN's syndication run right now?

Ummmmm... Kryten wasn't being serious there, Coop - that section of the interview isn't even UP yet.

The rest of the interview is up.  Lazzo basically says what we already know, that it would be very complicated and expensive to make new episodes, especially since Cartoon Network doesn't actually own Futurama (or Family Guy).  He says they've asked bigger networks to help with the costs, but nothing has come of it, though they're still trying.  Fox, of course, isn't interested.

Does anyone else want Fox to die a horrible death and leave the rights to Futurama to a competant company?

With both Futurama and Family Guy cancelled, and with the quality of The Simpsons decreasing more and more each year as of 1998, there really is no reason to watch Fox anymore...

Still, it's great to know that there is still SOME hope for a renewal Futurama, even if it is extremely unlikely. At least Cartoon Network cares about Futurama - the show is really in good hands with them, even if they are only going to show repeats.

At least they're trying. It's comforting to know that at least someone cares.

Yes.   You know they read what we say on the internet.  They know how we feel about fox and Futurama getting cancelled.  They want to keep our hopes up, because there is still hope.
