Considering the way Family Guy usually is watching the episode wouldn't help you with context too much.

True that.

Crossing over, possibly to give the finger to Fox who killed both of them you know

Family Guy doesn't really have a right to complain about being canceled anymore. Seth McFarlane essentially owns FOX now.

I saw that while I was waiting for American Dad to come on.  Maybe there was a connection with that and ITWGY.

It'll never happen, but I'm hoping the Futurama characters make an apperance on American Dad.

So I decided to watch that part of the episode. But I decided "wait, maybe it'll make sense if I start from the beginning". So I did. The appearance was random, but not normal Family Guy random. It wasn't some cut-scene but it actually fit in with the story and was referenced back to later in the episode. I think there were only two or three cut scenes in this episode, and the majority of it was uninterrupted at all. I actually enjoyed it. I wonder if Family Guy is actually like this now... Naw, probably not.

But, the Bender reference was nice. It was definitely taken from an episode, one where he's flailing his arms crazily. Somebody who's more of a geek can probably figure out the episode.

You know, I was kinda starting to hate family guy...then recently their episodes have had little to NO cut-clip jokes at all. And they've been working on good stories and stuff that's actually funny! Then, they did this Bender thing last night....they're definitely earning my respect. Very nice!

Also, I watched it a few times and can't decide if its from Futurama or not..but Futurama_Freak said it's something FG animated.

It's not anything I recognise from Futurama, though I could be wrong, but I agree with Freako on it being FG animated.

first off, it was a very good episode. for the past three weeks, ive enjoyed it.

secondly, it would appear to have been taken from futurama. i do not believe it was animated by family guy.

Just watched it. That was great.

it would appear to have been taken from futurama.

Isn't it hilarious when people think they "know" things that they don't actually know? FG has done a fine job of reproducing the styles of other famous cartoons for throwaway gags over the years.

Actually Rough Draft Studios, Futurama's main animation studio, also works for Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, and American Dad (along with several other shows and movies). So to think of "Family Guy" copying a "Futurama" animation scene may be a distinction without a difference. Very often it's the same guys that do the scenes for both series.

I'll have to find a clip, sounds interesting.  I agree with coldy too, Family Guy has used other cartoons styles before, the one I remember most is Fred Flinstone and Barney Rubble sitting at the bar.

And Spiderman.

Spiderman: "Tell him Peter."
Peter (to Cleveland, who Spiderman just saved): "Apparently everybody gets one."

I just watched The Splendid Source and it was a really good episode. Yeah, the part with Bender was definitely animated for that episode, not taken from a Futurama episode.

Not that they wouldn't lift a scene if they thought it the better way to go:

Great FG episode. Really enjoyed it.

The bender reference was really funny. However, I didn't really 'get it' - was there any meaning behind the joke at all, or was it just pure random? Were they making fun of futurama or giving it a tribute?

Funny though nonetheless

There wasn't any "get it" to it.  You never heard the joke, just the punchline.

My favorite part of that episode was the Freddy Krueger thing.

Lol - I initially thought that by '1 minute' you meant 60 seconds. (Which seemed an unusually long reference by Family Guy standards.)

Thank you, but not threadworthy.

i take it that your a mod here. the forum setup here is horrible. do you realise than nobody wants to go through 20 pages of posts, like half the threads here.

it's sad that peelified is the most popular futurama forum, as futurama is my favorite show, and these forums are not very good.

That and the you don't have to search through pages of threads to find one. There's a search function up the top just like all forums.
