Isnt it unethical?

... to download eps in .mpg format? Without giving the creators some kind of payment?  Well, i -really- like the series and Im downloading most of the eps to be able to see them, in Sweden they arent broadcasted right now... Is that wrong, i mean, i like the series so much, ill probably buy the DVD´s (if they´ll ever be available in stores) and maybe even some "actionfigures" TM á la Futurama. I believe Futurama creators make more money now, than if the eps wouldnt be available for download. What do you people think?

Recording it at least requires the enduring of ads, paying for the show.  Not to mention that I think it is technically illegal to do that either, though most producers don't really mind.

However, that's never really stopped me, as it is the ONLY way I can watch it, not that I'm too cheap/lazy to watch or buy it.

I disagree. Taping a show is perfectly legal, if the intent is for private viewing. Making .MPG's or any other video format usually involves distribution over the Internet, which IS, technically, illegal! But isn't the ultimate answer to any question, no matter how complex it may be, "Who cares?"

Sure it's unethical. But when's the last time you heard about the FBI busting down someone's door for just downloading copyrighted material?

I thought the whole point of VCR's was to record shows.
Downloading episodes off the internet isn't unethical, whats unethical is FOX cutting half the season.

Well I've got it the same way, it's not broadcasted in Norway (as all other good American shows - but in a side note, aren't TV4 sending Futurama now?)

I don't feel like I'm ripping off Fox... I've got all seasons complete in MPEG now, and will keep them - at least until Season Box DVD's are released (if that will happen). Then I'll buy them. And rip them to DivX (kidding).

I'm also watching a lot of other shows in MPEG that are not broadcasted in Norway (Angel, Farscape, Dark Angel).

Same here I have to download to watch Futurama [Even though they do brodcast here] I've got the entire series.. When/If the dvds do come out im goign to buy them for sure

I don't know how it's done in Sweden, but In The Netherlands (also european) it's perfectly legal and thus also ethical to download copyright protected media files. 
We pay a little bit extra for blank tapes, cd's, etc with which the copyrightholders are paid. Making a copy for your own personal use is 100% legal and this way there is no need for copyprotection because the artists get piad anyway.
Uploading a file (making a copy which is not for personal use) is technically considered to be illegal, but if they were to police this they wouldn't sell as much blank cd's and thus deprive themselves from income, so they let is happen as long as you don't start selling is on a large scale

Why would something as funny Futurama be unethical in any way? No mather how you copy it! why not just copy what you want, and then do something about it when you get problems! OK?

Or he could be replying to two different things using two different posts.  The first one he was telling Wanker that you can't judge a person by his/her avy.  The second one he was replying to the main topic.  Seemed easy enought to figure out to me.  Also, he's not the Wanker or ff.
