Hey guys, me again.  Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I'm still new and haven't got the hang of these message board madeelees.  Anyway, how did everyone first get interested in futurama?  My friend recommended it to me when I started Secondary school...  :D

By looking at the preview information for it, pretty much.  That single picture of the gang standing around looking nifty  just made me think "Oooh, wow, Groening goes pink!"  I hav eto say, I was surprsied at how different it was, pleasantly so.  :)

I have to admit I never heard of it until CN brought it along.  I couldn't sleep one night so I watched it being I love CN, and I fell in love with it after watching "Put Your Head On My Shoulder"- my first ep.  :) Haven't missed it ever since.

I think there was a thread like this before... Ah well.

I remember one morning probably early 1999, I was having breakfast getting ready for school and my Dad told me that Matt Greoning was making a new show (he knew I was a big Simpsons fan) Then I saw an interview with Greoning on channel 4s The Big Breakfast. It basically gave out all the info you'll get on the Season 1 DVD featurette. I remember I was instantly interested in the sci fi concepts of the show. Unfortunatly at the time I didn't have Sky Digital (we had it installed about two years ago). I remember waiting to see it on channel 4 whilst my friends at school (those who had Sky) kept telling me how funny and cool Futurama was. After months of waiting for channel 4 to start showing it I was rewarded. I remember it premiered at about 9:30 one evening with a short promo feature playing before the first episode. Ever since I saw Space Pilot 3000 I have religiously watched and rewatched every episode.

I've been a fan since the pilot episode. When I heard there was going to be a new sci-fi based animation show from Matt Groening, I was hooked!

It wasn't long before Futurama replaced The Simpsons as my favorite show. Sad to see it come to an end <*wipes away tear*>

I first heard about Futurama when the Guardian's 'Guide' supplement promo'd it.  Then I caught an episode on Sky at my parent's house and watched it on C4 whenever I could (not often).  I bought the season 1 DVD last February and...well, here I am.   ;)

I watched (and liked) Futurama since the first episode, but for me, it got really interesting around the third season (Parasites Lost/The Day The Earth Stood Stupid/Luck of the Fryish). That's when it became clear what a really awesome show this was (and how far The Simpsons had fallen).

I didn't like the idea when I first heard about it. At the time I never had high hopes for TV series' that began with "F." Then I read the premiseses for the first season in I Can't Believe Its A Bigger And Better Updated Unoffical Simpsons Guide and I thought "This doesn't sound half bad." Then I watched the first episode on Channel 4 and I've been consistently watching one way or another for the past nearly 3 years.

Yes, i didn't learn how deep it was until the 3rd season, parasites lost. i just thought it was a comedy/ sci fi until then. then i realized this show is more emotional and you can learn stuff from it.

Saw an article in a newspaper months before it actually came to Sky1 and I knew it would be great from then.
I was right, baby.

It was advertised a lot in the paper and on C4. I have this pull-out article from the newspaper all about the Simpsons, and on the back it was promoting the Sky premiere of Futurama. Also a few weeks before, there were these adverts in papers with Fry, Leela and Bender and explained who they were.

I also remember now that in a year 8 maths lesson, we were doing a project called 'enlargement' where we took a picture and inlarged it by 3x. I did Leela, but didn't know her name then  :) That's how it started I suppose. I have also watched it from the premiere on Channel 4  :D

From the first episode, and before, way back when FOX looked like they were going to support the show.  I still remember a promo spot withh Matt drawing Bender on the camera lens and giving a brief summation of the character ("He's a bad character, kids.  Don't be like Bender." or something to that effect.)  I was actually pretty surprised when I saw the piolt, 'cause that promo had given me the impression Bender was going to be a villian.

When I saw "The Series Has Landed" I was hooked. Loved the animation, the jokes and the format.

ofcourse a certain one-eyed alien babe didn't hurt either.

Didn't see SP3K until 3 months later, when I finally acquired it.

*SIGH* it's so sad to hear about the days where Fox treated it well, or at least better, than now.  Sometimes, I wonder what wouyld happen if they didn't cancel it. and i'd sometimes say "why Futurama? Why couldn't it be some other stupid fox show?" Am i the only one who does that?

I'm not even from the US and i agree completely, but even down here in auz, channel 7 (prime) shows it once at 11:00 on thursday, which is about the crappest timeslot possible for an young to mid age program. Simply appauling   :(

I could've sworn they showed (shew???) the pilot like 3 times.  When they were just coming out with it, and then once during the summer and then again when they ACTUALLY came out with the show....  It's been a long time since then, I can still vaguely remember the earlier promotional commercials and I was soooo like, I HAVE TO WATCH THAT SHOW!...  MEMOOOORIIEESSS
