futurama and red dwarf?

this has probobly been mentioned before but does anyone think the writers of futurama got inspiration from red dwarf?

they never mentioned it in the commentaries but there is some similarities, most of them are probobly coincedence.

fry - leela relationship = dave - katanski relationship

leela - professional = katanski - professional

planet express ship - green = starbug - green

fry - frozen in time, wakes in future = dave - frozen in time - wakes up in future

there are more, but any thoughts?

Well, i reckon if they were gonna make refernces to Red dwarf then theyd be refering to the early series, not the older ones

I love Red Dwarf! Y'know what, they probably did get inspiration from it - it's not just ripping off Star Trek/Wars.
